R6 to R1? Opinions
Well looking for everyone's opinion. Some people i talk to say go for it, other people tell me im nuts. Talking to a guy down at brockton cycle i can get good money for my r6 and a great deal on an r1. Basically will cost me no more money. Sitting on the r1 i like the riding position a little better and its actually a little lower so i feel more comfortable at a stop. Now obviously i don't need the power of an r1 at this point but i can grow into it. Thoughts? Everyone seems to agree r1 power is more usable around town cause you don't have to zing the thing up to get out of peoples way.

I would have to agree... I've never rode a R6 but I would assume they are a little more nible and easier to control then an R1. 1st mod to do to a R1 has to be velocity stacks, just a FYI

R1 is an amazing bike. My friend has an 05 Raven edition R1 and man that thing flys. He went 10.6 @ 138 with a crappy 2.2 60' lol. The bike is insanely fast.
For me, all I would need would be the R6. You really have to be moving to enjoy the extra power. I would say stay with the R6. Great bike. I have a buddy that goes 10.99 @ 130mph on a R6. That's PLENTY fast for me lol

A friend of mine just made the switch from a R6 to an R1.... He didnt have the R6 for more then 2 weeks and traded up to the R1. He bought it with 1300 miles on it and in a 3week period, he already has 50xx miles on it.... He drives the damn thing everywhere!!
Like said earlier.... If you know how to control the power, GO FOR IT!!!

I never rode a R6, but did recently sell my 04 R1 (162RW). There was no need to mod it for power but I did anyways and never red lined it in first or second in fear of going over backwards, lol. It was fun but unless your a hard core bike guy who goes to tracks, you don't need a sport bike that will do 186 mph from the factory. I've had a bunch of bikes and liked riding the 500/650 size bikes better for the street. You can use all their power and not afraid of killing yourself everytime to throw it wide open. I use to like red lining 3rd and fourth, but all that will do in the long run is get you in jail or dead.. The damn things do right at 100 mph at redline in first gear

You want power get a Busa or a 14, On my 05 Busa Stock motor geared and lowered went 9.79 @142 And its a great two up bike also! Had a 1k Suzuki also, a great bike but more of a single rider road race bike its all in what you want to do with it.
