I need cats for Texas, but won't be there for 2.5 more years. I do have hook ups, or did anyway. Bad part is that they cost $80 or so.

What are the effects of running the cat/no cat and egr/no egr with performance?

Basically I need a lesson in Basic/performance LS1 101. I don't want to NOT ask questions and **** something up later on. I'm pretty sure I will be purchasing my headers from Shawn and still deciding on tune. Not sure if I need the dyno tune or not. I don't even know who all tunes in this area. I just hear good things about VA Speed from folks. If I were home all this would be easier as I knew people who ran LS1's for awhile. Being a truck guy I'm retarded when it comes to the f-bodies.

I was referring to Kyle when i said wtf do i know-he thinks he is the f body expert sometimes because he has owned 1 car-just like most of the other so called experts on this board.I always hear"works good on my car"the question is-did you ever try anything else-in my opinion unless you have tryed just about everything out there, you cant give an honest judgement on whether something is good or bad.

Understandable, but.... You have to give it to him. Kyle knows almost everything there is to know about LSx cars. The ******'s on this site 24/7.... Literally. We'll be eating dinner or playing a game and he's on this site. Ashley and Jess get so pissed at him all the time for it!! Haha!!

And technically he's owned 2. But, either way, how many different setups has he had on that one car? Not knocking your intelligence at all Shawn as I come to you for tons of advice....

Just saying.

Knowledge comes from things you have done and witnessed personally-not what someone has written in a forum-second hand information is always skewed because the person putting out the information is bias, doesnt have all the facts himself or is just an idiot.Kyle has had defferent setup on his car-each one totally different-when you have used more than one of the same thing you can judge what is good and bad-put going from n/a-s/c to turbo isnt comparing anything

Well I am the proud owner of a 98 T/A. I finalized everything today. She is mine. I got a car cover, factory air baffle, extra license plate piece with the bird, extra fog light, a new cd player that he bought and it had problems reading some mp3's so he replaced it with another, the factory set of wheels with tires (dont have them yet, I will pick them up next week) ZR1 center covers with red birds to replace the checkered flag. Oh, and two t-top rubbers. I think that was it. Got a good price on it, or so I feel.

I might just go ahead and gut the cat out then. I want it to be pretty close to passing emmissions in TX.

You'll get away with it. If somone fails you go on to the next. Although I've yet to meet the poorly paid mechanic that LOVES HIS JOB SO MUCH, that he will test your emmisions. Ebrake works, cats...send em on their way. Oklahoma did away with inspections completly....maybe ill find a job up there.

Oh and congrats on the bird! hows it feel?

I'm pretty happy. I need a clip for the driver side door for the door handle plastic piece. It won't stay screwed in.

Totally agree. With that being said, I have watched Kook's long tubes make 10 less horsepower on my car than Mac mid lengths.

I have poly motor mounts and I can tell you they are kind of a pain to put in. I can't tell you whether they helped or not over stock but I can tell you my car has zero exhaust rattles.

I also have had experiance with stainless headers vs coated headers (Macs). I don't care how good the coating is, they are going to rust. My Macs were spotty rusted when I took them off the car to put the Kook's on and I had them coated at Van Winn is chesapeake. They were on the car less than 6 months.

How much are you looking to spend? I don't think Hooker makes a stainless LS1 header.

Not sure really. Honestly with my budget I will have to stick with ceramic coated.

Hey Texas...

I have the Jethot longtubes. They fit great and the coating is holding up well. I have some rust on the bottoms by the collectors, but that is to be expected for a DD. I have had the headers on since Sept '06.

If you are looking for a good ORY, the Mufflex is not a bad choice. I have not had any clearance issues, however, I am stock ride height.

If you work out at NAVSTA Norfolk, I would be more than happy to meet up with you and let you check everything out "installed". If not, I can post pics of them if ya want.

I live in NC, but work at Navsta. I am stationed at Afloat Training Group. Let me know when you get a chance and we can meet up.

I will be playing in CPO Initiation Monday and have the pinning Tuesday, so I will be fairly busy, however, Wed to Friday is fine.
