I agree with Brad.Change the fluid and look at it.If you see alot of clutch material =bad. Still clean=good.

What color is the tranny fluid? What does it smell like, is it burnt? I used to run a 4L60E in my 94 Z28 and took awhile to finally get it built right. Might not mean much but I was running a 2800 Art Carr non lock up converter in mine cutting consistent 1.6 short times and never bothered once it was built right. 3.73's. I was using a 24,000 GVW B&M cooler along with a TCI 2.5 extra quart aluminum tranny pan.

running at highway speeds while not in lock up and below the converters stall speed creats excessibe heat. Check your fluid and replace it if in doubt of its condition.

Talk to whoever built it before you put in synthetic. I know synthetic will smoke a a trans. unless it was specificly built to run synthetic.

Don't use synthetic. Just get some good name brand Dextron 3 stuff. I used Castro.

No synthetic, and I wouldn't worry about driving like you did non-lockup for atleast that one time.

Why wasn't the converter locking up anyways, codes?

The 3-4 clutch pack is almost always the 1st to go, like slowhawk said you loose everything after 2nd.

I personally think you are ok. What cooler are you running, do you have a guage to monitor temps. If your temps stayed under/around 200 I wouldn't worry too much. Normally it's probably not a good thing to heat up a fresh build like that without a little bit of a break in.

Like I said I wouldn't worry at this point.
