Default Oil Change

Just picked up 6 quarts of 0w-30 Amsoil. Gonna give it a try. Seeing how Mobil 1 is no longer 100% synthetic at least not what I could tell.

I thought M1 was never fully synthetic. I remember back in the 80s it was synthetic blend. I think Castrol was/is a full synthetic.

I think 0w30 is not appropritate for central Florida.

Mobil 1 is advertised as full synthetic, and a shop managers recommendation post blower and cam was #1 Rotella #2 Mobil 1. I will stick with Mobil 1. It has served me well for a decade and a half, and I will stick with it. This is a hugely debated topic FYI.....

My old bottle of Mobile 1 says 100% sythetic on it and my new ones didn't. Mobil sued castrol for selling synthetic that wasn't 100% and they lost. So can't fighten join im I guess is their new policy.

0w is the weight cold and 30 is the hot weight. So kwiksilver are you running a 40w or 50w. I read people were having good success with 0-30 castrol euro blend and amsoil 0w 30 reducing or eliminating piston slap. I have it so I will let you know. The hot new oil is suppose to be a 100% sythetic 0w-50 out of Japan.

I am running 10w30 Mobil 1 in my Z. 5w30 in my avalanche and wifes Scion per manufacturers recommendation. She is at 87k miles right now. I am going to pull her oil pan and valve cover at 200 or 250k miles just to show how clean the motor is in a high revving daily driver pos is with Mobil 1.

FYI...per Procharger, I do oil changes at 2k miles or 6 months in the Z (6 mos....lol...I only do about 1500 a year), and 3k in the other 2. Cheap insurance. I could care less about the studies. I feel better with clean oil.
