Hey everyone- I've got some holes in the floors and toe boards of my 65 Buick. I was thinking about cutting the old s/m out and welding in new stuff. I am a decent mechanic, and have some skills as far as fabricating goes, but am by NO means a seasoned body man!!!
Just looking for tips and tricks before I cut!
Thanks
Erik

Its not that bad if you get the floor pan sections.Keystone has the section for almost all the cars .Just lay the section on top of the old floor trace it w/ a marker then leave yourself a inch or 2 then cut out the old one then weld or rivet the new one.

Depends on what kind of old car this is. I've brazed in (don't
recommend) donor sections cut from another car, when I
thought I was "restoring" something. But for a beater, some
window screen and roofing cement works pretty well. That
aluminum roof coating makes a real good undercoating too,
stops rust real well.
If you are tacking and not running a continuous bead, you
should get some body seam sealer and pack the seam before
it sees the wet (after cathodic protection and primer).

thanks guys...it is a 65 Buick that has been backhalved...the front floors and toe boards are rotted. I suppose this will be a PARTIAL replacement towards the front of the car. Thanks for the tips!
