I just got an LQ4 & am about to go into it.. As far as i know every1 in Jax execpt for wheeler ( who don't do walkins ) has 30 year old equipment... Theres a shop in Tallahassee with state of the art equipment who is thinking about buyin some Ls torque plates.. I may be wrong about Jax machine shops, but if you want the "affordable" connection.. PM me
Bro for some reason everyone in JAX wants your first born to machine and build your block, but with that said, from the research I've done, Hendrick is the guy to go to. The guys that EFI use Precision Quoted m like $2800 or something insane like that so stay clear!!!
I am going to Orlando to have Dave Crume of CRE build mine for around $1900; Mike Norris gave me his lead on the guy he uses to build his motor and I was glad he did! My 2nd choice is Mike @ Total Engine Concepts in WPB, really nice guy and knows what the hell he is talking about, he quoted me around $1500 and then my 3rd would be Rob @ Central FL Machine & Speed another really nice guy that knows his ****, his quote was also around $1500 IIRC... These quotes were with ME supplying the parts and was for a 415 stroker build from a LQx block, so keep that in mind
But as for a local build, I'd call Mark @ Horsepower By Hedrick, I think he was around $2200.
