Does any one know when the next Standing Mile event is going to happen at Dade Collier Airport?

Max Gee is the guy your looking for. He was the one that setup the one we went to. I haven't seen any posts for this in a few mos.

the milemarker-1.com website has been idle for a few months now and just says they're waiting on the county to say ok. Almost doesnt look like its going to happen anymore

The last event I went to was about a year ago and it was not hosted by Maxgee. It was hosted by Top Gun standing mile, alot more exotic cars were there and it was very enjoyable and very organized.

I wonder what its holding it all back?

yeah, milemarker was suppose to have another one late last year until the county put the brakes on it. Im wondering if it had anything to do with the Lambo crash at the texas mile?

That happened the same time everything seemed to fade out with this. Just a thought.

From what i understand from maxgee. The last group to do the mile allowed 4 cars to run at once. Making it harder for everyone else to do it.

The last renters of the airport ran 4 cars drag racing and landed a plane without FAA approval. The airport is partially funded by the federal government; when Collier County officials got wind of happened they wheren't happy. We finally got past being punished for another group, but now the environmentalist have raised issue. They initially where opposed only to an new RV park being put next door to the airport for off roaders to run there ATVs, dirt bikes, Jeeps, etc... They heard about the event and are now the ones that need to won over.
I'm working on it guys, trust me I'm a car fanatic and know S. FL motor heads want this to happen. If you know of anyone who may have a relationship with a Collier county official who might be able to assist, shoot me a PM.
