**** I've got a good friend who's a agent for usaa back home. I can't belive this, but why did the tow company take the car without telling you where it was going. That in itself is shady as hell. And the fact that you didn't sign anything from him is even worse.

Hey I just talked to my buddy that works for usaa. He said if I can get a last name from ya he can look up what's going on and if you know the name of the salvage yard that would help too.

Man.Such a little bit of damage and easy fix has im sure turned into a nightmare for you.I would never expect that from your own company though.I would have lost my cool seeing my car come to me on a forklift.Hopefully your lawyer can take care of it all asap.GL

What happen is that it was a Friday, the tow driver had a date it was already late.. He took it to the yard to get done early (he didt care) yard owner seen your car it turn him on and he KNOWS that your car can rakein some good money.. As shady as they are he wreck it even more to guarantee that it stay in the yard..he know those cars are in demand Now he's going to eat good dinners and have some extra cash in his pocket till the car is strip to the bone... Is all about the money!! Bastards!

so you found out the car went to a yard, you found out which which yard it was, you went there, right?? they brought you the car on a forklift, you got your stuff out of the car, THEN you left YOUR car, which you still own at junkyard,

are you crazy or stupid??

I personally would have been beside myself,

there was a hold on the car the yard wouldn't let me do anything but get personal items out of it. Like I said, I'll let my lawyer deal with it. And if that fails... I'll let all this anger I've been building up since Friday come out on them.

This looks like a total scam. The insurance adjuster was probably shown another similar vehicle and never checked the VIN.

How is there a hold on a car you own??? I would have had OCSO/FHP on the phone and a rollback idiling in the driveway, waiting for them to load MY car,

I must say you have a great patience level!!!!!

Just about any credit union will finance any car up to the nada or kbb retail value of the car. (more then likely they will give you a personal loan at a high interest rate and use the car as collateral for the loan)

AGREE
How can there be a "hold" on the car when you own it and didnt authorize them
(in writing) to take your car.
Was it highway patrol that called the wrecker because it was impeding traffic flow?
I hope everyone is paying attention to this and taking notes.
ALWAYS have it towed to your house, even if you have to pay for it yourself.
If they total it now it will be because the yard and tow bill was more than the repair costs.

I've been a member of USAA since 1974 and have always been treated very well. My take is that this is not the insurance company doing it to you, but an insurance scam doing it to the insurance company more than likely involving both the tow yard and the adjuster. The adjuster is contracted by the insurance company and is not an employee.

USAA has a big office in the Tampa area and I would make sure they get the whole story.
