Hello Florida! This past Friday I found out I'm getting stationed in Mayport, FL (Jacksonville) for the next 3 or so years. I hear the car scene is just as strong in the sunshine state as it is in Texas. Looking forward to enjoying the Florida lifestyle! 
welcome to FL, i am navy myself but im at vp-45 at NAS jax. and yes the f body scene here is very strong but get used to a mustang majority. and get used to the average mustang driver here being a douche. but welcome to FL, mayport is an ok base, i take it your going to either the ship or a helo squadron?
You have EFI Alchemy right around the corner, and some cool places to eat. Compared to where I live the beer selection in just about in any store up there is awesome also.
I like visiting up that way, some good biking around town, always seems like random car shows are around on the weekends. Welcome to FL.

The formula. Stock 6.0 with full exhaust, and full suspension with the exception of a rear end. She'll be getting a long list of mods once I get back from deployment at the end of the year. The ship I'm going to just left for a long deployment and I'll be joining them soon.

Any recommendation for housing location in the Mayport area? I'd like to stay within 20-30 mins of the base, but in a nice area so my wife doesn't have to worry about security when I'm out to sea.

A lot of ppl stationed at mayport live off of beach blvd. Or maybe it just seems that way to me but either cape house or country club lakes are pretty nice places that I've lived in personally that I was happy with.
Welcome to Florida I love it here. Im at mayport also, but Im a reservist so once a month I'm there. The car scene is definitely strong here; There's a dragstrip about an hour and half from you in Gainesville, and there always seems to be something good going on in Jacksonville.

Yeah, I grew up in gainesville, love it here. If youre a drinker check out the beach bars In Jax, they are lots of fun anytime I have been drilling and had the chance to go out

Not a smoker, but I'll check it out. Last cigar bar I was at was full of laid back interesting people.
