Big thanks to Phil from Tampa Tuning
I went to Phil from Tampa Tuning on Saturday for a "Street Tune" and he's a class act.
We went out and beat on my car for a few hours and got it tuned just the way I like it. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
He even spent more time, at no charge, to try and figure out a misfire which was cause by a bad plug (found that out yesterday when I changed them).
He was able to tune around it and after the plug change it's great.
Guys, if you need a tune and you're on the fence on who to go with, go with Phil and Tampa Tuning. The price was great and he's also a super nice dude to just hang out and BS with.
Thanks Phil. I'll definitely be back when I need a future tune for upgrades.
Jeff
EDIT: He's also good luck. We went to the gas station to fill up for the tune and I found $60 on the floor in the gas station!

How does someone "tune around" a misfire that turns out to be a bad sparkplug?

I don't know, I'm not a tuner. I just said he tuned around it because I don't know how he did it technically.
All I know is that my car had a misfire at high rpm and after the tune and after I changed my plugs, it runs strong.

I think what you meant to say was he was able to deliver a awesome tune even with the miss because he knew once you changed the plugs his tune would be spot on. In my book that just shows the man obliviously knows what he's doing so kudos to him...

as the day was getting hotter, the car was picking up something differant, not consistantly, but when it did it, it was at over 4950 RPMs. Seemed more evident actually at idle, then on some runs it would have "the issue" and sometimes it wouldnt, or it would at differant gears leading me to a plug not like getting heated up.
After trying little more spark, a little less spark, a little more fuel, a little less fuel, I did what I should have done an hour earlier and just pulled up my misfire PID histogram and scanned it that way for a run. Not consitant, but late in the RPM band it was picking up misfires in cylinders 5 and 6.
With a slightly richer AFR the car ran smoother at WOT thought out the day, so that's what I stuck with. The next day the misfiring plugs were corrected, and Jeff reports the car runs great.
Tuning cant overcome mechanical issues, but once identified, you can set up the cars to run even better for when the problems are corrected in some cases.
Phil.
Professional tuning at a great price.
