Power Steering Pump Headaches My stock power steering pump broke last year. They dont make that part as per Chevrolet so I had to get a replacement via autozone (refurbished). I installed that but was not running normally. Making a ton of whine and not really working properly. So I got that replaced and the new one makes the similar noises and is also not running normally. Where when you turn at a low speed the steering gets really hard and not smooth. Ive been dealing with things like this since mid last year and needless to say is getting to me now.
Im looking for assistance from my fellow Fort Myers/Cape Coral LS guys. Not sure if Im doing something wrong during the installation or not so I was wondering if anyone knows of a shop willing to get my pump intalled if I bring them the replacement? or if anyone knows of a mechanic that is willing to work on my car?
At this point I just want to get this fixed cause I must be doing something wrong during the install.
BTW this is a 2004 Pontiac GTO

Well my shop behind my house is somehow turning into a local LSx hot rod shop...I have a friend that is GM mechanic at Dixie Buick and is currently on workers comp leave. He helped me this past weekend do headers, exhaust and plugs on Uziguy18's car. PM me for possible help.
Is there a possibility that your rack is going bad???
Is all the air properly bled out of the system????
I dunno, I had ps whine in my car and it turned out to be the steering box itself

Not sure, its possible. Although everything was working fine until that first power broke. I did noticed a leak on the floor today. So that is a sure thing now

UPDATE:
So ragtopz28's friend replaced the pump with an Autozone Re-manufacture one and we dropped about 1/2 bottle of Lucas Power Steering pump stop-leak in it as well as the ATF stuff. The new pump doesnt make any noises and we did take the air out of the system by doing the turn wheel from lock to lock deal. Took the car off the ramp and drove it. That thing was a full arm work out. So I dont know if this pump might also be bad from Autozone since Ive heard great things about them (really not) or if there might be an issue somewhere else.

I have replaced 3 pumps on 04 and 05 gto and having no issue. Sounds like air was trapped in the 1st one then just a bad pump from autozone. I am also in the cape let me know if you need anything.
