Default Anyone live in Edgewater, FL?

I'm wanting desperately to move out of Miami. Lived here for 21 out of my 22 years of life and I've had enough. I want to move somewhere not too rural, but not in a big city either and Edgewater got my attention through random google searches. Extremely affordable housing, low crime rates, and not far from both Orlando Speed World and Daytona Speedway. I also love shooting and there's a few ranges and gun clubs in the area as well... So it seems like a good place for me... I can't find much info about what the job market is like there. Just wanted to get some feedback from people who actually live there or have at least maybe spent a decent amount of time there in the past. What do you like? What don't you like? Is there mostly old people? How's the car scene? Is it a good place for someone who wants something not super rural but not super urban? Anything else you feel might be worth mentioning.

I researched Deltona and it doesn't have a lot of positive feedback from people who live or lived there. Perhaps I should make a visit there and check it out.

Depends where you go, and where you look, north deltona and very south deltona on the st johns is pretty good, even look in debary. Deland isn't too bad either depending on sections.

Everywhere you go now a days you find bad areas. There is just nothing to do in that area

What type of job market are you looking in? Engineering/sales/etc. I just moved to Melbourne and there's a lot of industry here in Aviation and government contract companies. Harris, Northrop Grumman, Embraer, Rockwell Collins, and so on. Still relatively cheap cost of living.

Automotive related stuff whether it be sales, technician, service adviser, or service manager (I have a degree in automotive service management). I'm working on a bachelors in business as well. So basically anything I can get that relates to things I like (car, guns, music, and outdoorsman type stuff) that pays well... Realistically most likely something in the automotive industry though. Or if none of that works out then any administrative job that I can get with my business degree. Also want to dabble with some of my own business ventures in the future.

I will look into Melbourne thanks for the suggestion. I'm not looking to move till September at the earliest, so I have a bit of time still to think about it and visit places. I just know I really want to be out of Miami and move somewhere a little more rural. Considering other states as well but since is the Florida section I kept my post about cities in Florida.

I actually have been strongly considering NC, just no clue what city since I don't know the state as well. When my grandparents retired they moved to Murphy, NC and I visit them often. I love the country vibe, the weather, the mountains, low cost of living, and the nice people but Murphy is a little too small of a town for me and there aren't enough people around my age. Something on the outskirts of Charlotte may be nice. Something in a rural quiet area, but have the city 20-30 mins away. That would be an ideal situation. I do want to be within an hour of a drag strip and I don't know where the tracks are at in NC.

But yeah I'm really liking the whole Edgewater/Port Orange/New Smyrna area and also liking Melbourne too. Thinking this summer I'm going to visit those two areas, as well as Deltona, and maybe visit some cities in North Carolina and the northern areas of Georgia.
