Default First time at the track :(

Well last night was the first time I've taken my car to the dragstrip down at OSW! I did not run what I really expected, but my 60 foot times were horrible and the track was slippery as hell! I only made two passes before staging got really backed up! My first was 14.5 @ 96.xxx and my second was 14.1 @ 102. But both times my 60 foot was 2.4 All I've got done performance is Longtubes, y-pipe w/ cutout, and a $hitty flowmaster. And for tires I had on B/F Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW2s. I know for every tenth I cut off my 60 it should be like .15 on my E/T.

I was there last night. I was just watching, it looked like everyone even with slicks had a hard time sticking. What color is your car? Black? It was my first time there and had a blast.

OSW's prep is pretty bad most of the time. if you were on real street radials it takes a LOT of practice to really get it down. for your mods, for the horrid summer air, and for your experience (or lack of on a drag strip surface) its about right.

seat time is EVERYTHING. practice practice practice. it wil come around.

They don`t do track prep on TnT nights like they used to. They used to spray the track good on evrey other run, now on Wed or Fri they sometimes only prep for first round.

This is my car
And yes everyone was running horribly! My friend ran a best time of 13.5 in his dad's C6!!! And my friend Jordan ran a best of 13.1 with his 383 93 Z28 on bald street tires and untuned! I thought my 60 would be much better than that since I am so used to launching at the AutoX events, but it seems a lot more different at the strip. I'm going again this Wednesday, I dunno if I'm gonna run my car or my dad's 66 Chevelle!

with a good hook (see Gainesville or Bradenton for help there), you'll see 13.7's-13.5's on the et, and keep in mind it's summer, so those will also get better.

As mentioned above, practice is everything!

Yea i remember seeing that car. Looks great! I saw ur buddy running in the black C6 with black wheels, i took a pic with my camera phone of it. Sick lookin car. Anyways, highlight of the night was that 16-17 y/o looking kid riding his silver cbr600 f4i. He launched it, poped a wheelie outa the hole and lost his shoe. what an idiot. Ill def be heading back to watch some more, hope to see some more f-body's run.

Yes, OSW was garbage Wed. night. They didnt prep the track until after that guy spilled coolant down the whole thing. Of course that's when I let my buddy drive and he smoked my clutch. I'm sure some of you saw the red Z try to do a burnout but the only smoke came from under the car. Oh well time for a Spec 3.

Lol yea I saw that but I though it was this kid that caravaned down there with my friends! Didn't see the kid on the bike lose his shoe, but that is hillarious. And I'll be heading to Gainesville in late October to run my car before I go see a Gator game. I was never a big fan of drag racing or going to the strip but I'm hooked now, but AutoXing and Road racing are def. a lot more fun!

Its almost pointless to run in this weather and at OSW, but I will tell you this, if you can get your car to hook there, you can run anywhere.

swap out your rear rims for some sticky drag radials like BFG or M/T. That'll help big time.

I'm not going to drop the money on Drag Radials because I AutoX alot more than I drag. I am getting some competition tires for autocrossing though, which might work a little bit better than street tires!

LCA's, TQ arm and a PHB (all good for AutoX too- do a little research on the LCA choice). Watch that 60' plummet.

I just ordered a 35mm swaybar from stranoparts, have a custom intake pipe being made for free I just have to buy the filter, and then I'm saving up for coil overs right now from UMI and Spohn, then I'm gonna start buying stuff like LCAs, pan hard bar and all that other stuff. I have a 95 Firebird just sitting around, I suppose I could start saving up to turn that thing into a drag car!!

We are going again Wednesday, meeting at the same place, except at like 4:45 I think. I'll have RC call you and let you know, and I think we are going to the Lil 500 afterwards
