Coral Gables Area
Residential area of the Gables was planned inthe 1920's by Merrick- he chose the Mediterranean look and used lots of local coral rock in his original houses- lots of old oak trees, lots of tropical foliage and lot of quaint small streets. Venetian pool, a natural spring, was a rock quarry. Great golf, Biltmore hotel (circa 1920's is a great historical gem and has a kick-*** resort). Sobe is only a 15 minute drive, downtown is a 10 minute drive, Key Biscayne is a 15 min. drive, Coconut Grove is a 5 minute drive.
If you got money, live there. It's centrally located and it's on high ground (in Miami, that's the original coral rock ridges (about 10' above sea level as opposed to 3' to 5' in other infill suburban areas).
A 3/2 should be in the 450K-650K+ range.
A 4/3 in the 600K-800K range.
Anything larger is in the 1M range.
Lots in the Gables are generally small- the more affordable houses are pretty crammed together. Not much sprawl.
Condos are in the 375K+ range.
If you want more house for your money, you've got to look out west in the newer developments near the Everglades, North, near Broward, or South in the Kendall area or in some of the working class neigborhoods (I say this, having lived in many a working class neighborhood myself, but good fortune has come upon my family recently thru hard work and study, so therefore I can afford to live in an upscale area now). I grew up in Hialeah, bulk of my family still lives there, it's a great place to live if you're Cuban, but not everyone's cup-o-tea if you catch my drift.
