so what is a "florida fast" car?

??? ok back up here before you all start the redneck honkey atack.. thers plenty of hwy races that go deep into the triple digits and OVBIOUSLY if you had 2 of the same cars... one geared for the 1\4 and one geared for hwy races... In a Highway race.. the properly geared car would win... DUH!!@! all im tring to say is i get more would get more satsfaction out of a car that can go fast on the street and strip than one a litle bit faster that has to be trailered to the strip.....this is all not to mention the trade off in suspension you have between launching a car and handeling or the trade off in rim\tire combos or the trade off in in how the power is made vs the usage it wil have.. so dont get offended im not tring to knock anybodys car ALL IM SAYING IS YOU CANT HAVE IT ALL AND I PERFER A WELL ROUNDED CAR OVER ONE THAT IS EXTREAM ONLY IN 1 OR 2 ASPECTS

O YEA I love how you all can say high spped raceing is dangerous like any form of raceing is safe... quit foolig yourselves its all dangerous a wreck at 80 will kill you just as fast as a wreck at 180 (youll just be in smaller pieces at 180 than 80 but in both cases your gonna die).. i dont try and claim raceing is safe and when ive done high spped runs down the hwy its usally pritty dam empty so the only person im hurting is my self so quit preaching ...

o yea the logic behing the gearing thing is if your raceing qtr your hitting overdrive by the end of the 1\4 therefore your gonna be about spent.. now that same car geared down a bit would be able to have a higher top end, admittly it would be slower in the 1\4 but if your race is starting at 100mph like many many many races ive seen do then you will have the advantage... and when you say no body cares about this well why then do so many exotics place their emphisis on top end over qtr mile speeds.. for example you dont see ferrari, lotus, or porshe boasting their qtr mile times NO you see them boasting top end!!! so i guess for all you who think top end is a "dumb idea" theres more "dumb" people in the world spending more of their "dumb wasted money" on top end cars than is spent on qtr mile cars anyday any country any time ..... PERSONALLY, LIKE I SAID ABOVE 5 MILLION TIMES I APPRICIATE BOTH ASPECTS OF A CAR AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A CAR THATS GOOD IN BOTH AREAS

and why cant i have it all? a properly built turbo vette would be a "all around" car IMO
and just to make light of your wreck "theory"...i went head on with a car at 40mph...he was doing 40mph aswell. im still here typing...had i been doing 90, and he been doing 90, id probably be dead. theory disproved.
and finally, your "top end" car idea. they probably dont boast the numbers because the cars speak for themselves...what production cars will beat an enzo in a 1/4 run? these are also european cars, more then likely set up for the Autobahn, and F1 style racing. wonderful a mclaren f1 will roll 230+ off the showroom...have you watched the top end pull video of one? he was out of gas in roughly 2 minutes. there is no room out here to do 200mph safely, so why do it. its my strong opinion that anyone wanting do do such a high roll, since you have seen so many 100mph starting races, is a complete idiot. it takes any skill involved out of the equation. if you can break traction at 100mph, congrats, chances are you dumped a whole lot of cash into making some high hp dyno queen, and havent even touched the suspension, and probably riding around on low profile tires.
but i do think you deserve a cookie one of those bad *** 7-11 type ones..3 for a 1.19, im keeping one for myself though.

383LQ4SS, all I have to say about his car is, God damn that thing moves out. JPR, not to attack you but I think no matter what you say, your not gonna prove a point in here. The people you are trying to contradict are way smarter than you are when it comes to cars. I am with Andy, I will take an 80mph crash anyday over a 180 mph crash, and no, you wont necessarily die from an 80mph crash, you can, but chances are better at 80 than 180. I've seen ls1's crash at 80, and the driver has a chance of even walking away. At 180, the road crews will be scraping pieces of your face and *** off of the highway for over 500ft. I'll stick with the track where its a sanctioned event and I dont run the risk of putting innocent lives at risk, only my own.

to your point about wrecks ive seen people die in a 20 mph wreck and ive surived a wreck at 110 mph my self theres always the chance you will die or live but statistically speaking your not significatntly any better wrecking at 80 than 180 like you would think.... being the force upon impace increases expnoentially as mph increases its kinda like saying would you like to be ran over by one mack trucks or seven your still gonna die.... yes admittly the force at 180 mph is infintely more but the force at 80 well exceeds what is needed to kill someone... additonally, for my example a true track car will not be able to really do hwy runs IN MOST CASES most of these cars cant even be driven for consecutive miles without overheating and two may top out to earily.. yea theyll get to their top speed quick but in a hwy run that wont matter is as much (furthermore we can all sit here and think of examples of 100hp cars vs 10000 hp cars and say that jpr guy is wrong but with the same power car in both scinarios; the one geared for the hwy will win on the Hwy, and in 99% of the cases the gearing, suspension, tires, that are best suited for the 1\4 are not whats ideal for 100 + runs ... I DONT SEE HOW YOU CAN REALLY ARGUE THAT POINT
BTW sneakin decon i think you need to read up on the 1\4 times for most of the exotic cars out there their not what you think they are (low 12's high 11's in most cases) and to my point you may ask WHY? well, id argue some of the reason is beacouse most of these cars are geared low as so to save their acceleration potential for higher speeds
BUT THINK WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE not tring to rain on anyones parade if ya want the truth then lisen to me -

ok i will listen to you. many of your points are valid.
but you are interested in 100-200 mph runs right? so roll racing as some will call it.
yet you own an A4 automatic car. weird.

if i wanted the truth, i will do the math. your little highway gearing thought is so far off base it scares me...take 2 little 100hp civics, 93 Cx's for example since i owned one. 4th gear i could shift out at redline at roughly 95mph, once i went into 5th, there wasnt enough power period, the car literally slowed to 85mph as max speed in 5th gear. if it had "race track" gearing 5th gear would have probably pulled into the 100's. hence why i stated mechanical advantage. your just talking about maximum mathematical top end...wonderful, but welcome to reality, where we have drag variables, such as gravity, friction, and aerodynamics...you can be geared to run 300mph, fact is you wont hit it, and more then likely, the race geared car will still outrun you even from your assinine roll race. on my slicks, at redline in 6th, i would be doing 274mph...with 4.11's. if i go by what you say and toss in some 2.73's, yea my mathematical top speed will be in the 415mph range, but let get serious, what 300hp car is going to push those limits? and what one will have an easier time getting there you ask? well ofcourse, the one with the friendlier mechanical advantage. knowledge is power, you better call the electric company, you have had a brownout this thread.
btw, ill take my chances with an 80mph crash any day of the week over a 180mph crash.
and yes, low 12's high 11 in most cases...and as i said, show me regular production cars that compares to that? maybe a viper? if you wanna call that a "cheaper" exotic?

JPR, you provide a lot of laughs. Your attempt at logic is nothing more than a thin veil of ramblings that hardly form a complete thought.
You make up this idea about roll racing and your many, many races that start at 100 mph Put the pipe down and pick up a dictionary. In your world what is the finish line of these races? Is there a distance involved or does it go until both cars sprout wings. If you want this mystery race to go on until the lower geared car can finally catch up and overtake the higher geared car, then you're right.

hey NEXT, do or have you ever ran at orlando speed world? there was a red camaro out there that was all stock looking with tires and spray and ran fast as ****... seeing your sig and location, i was thinking it quite possibly could be yours.

well I can tell you this I survived a wreck in my 99z. I hydroplaned went across the median and then got smacked by a silverado and an f150 from on coming traffic going 70 and I was going 65. and if they would have let me I could have walked away. and I have seen an accident were a camaro was leaving a red light and an f150 ran the red light @50mph and the driver died. so you never know. I can tell ya this the hydroplaning wreck was scary as **** I thought I was going to die. the car is the only thing that didnt survive. I got out with scratches from glass.
