na its a 6 spd.

i was having ALL kinds of traction problems all day. average 60' is 1.65-1.69 and i was mid/high 1.7s all day. i have vids of my runs i need to upload.

run 1: 15-16 psi in tires. 5.5k launch, spin off the line, spin 1-2 shift and slide outta the groove. car cuts loose and gets NASTY sideways and almost killed the 330 marker. good thing the car next to me was slow (scion tc) or i probably wouldve had some trouble. one of the only times ive been like HOLY ************!!!! in my car.

run 2: same launch, smoked the tires, shift 1-2 and gets sideways again. let out and get back in it. 2-3 is fine. 3-4 cuts the tires loose and get slides hard right. let out and coast to a 12.1 @ 101.

run 3 (run post is about): 11-12 psi, 5.5k launch. spins a little of the line and goes. stays in the groove and results are above. it was the only clean run of the night

i have found over the last 3-4 trips to the track that my car is much more sensitive to being in the groove than it used to be. if it starts to slide out and i stay in it, when one tire gets outside the car literally shoots to the side, scary ****.

i have the 3rd run vid but i need to host it somewhere

sounds like your track sucks. you should be in the 1.59-1.62 range no problem. i run the same tire and LOVE it. i wont change. i bet your suspension is unloading on you. stock shocks? i dont think you should have ot go to 11 psi to get that car to hook.

gainning 30 mph shows your power. the dyno might not pick it up but real life dones. get a video and we can help ya out.

host it on ls1tech video

btw its not safe to race with the window down dummie!!

i know its not safe but it gets hot as **** sitting in the staging lanes for 90 minutes, and then again most of the time i have shorts on, drive barefoot, and dont wear a helmet. this track doesnt even know what "tech" means. sunday i walked up to the tech line, gave the guy my tech card, he said which car is yours, i pointed to it about 50 yards away and said that white one over there. he said, ok your number 60 sign here. hehe

shocks are hal R's up front on 2 or 3 and comp eng rear set on 50/50. subframes and lcas are upgraded, everything else is stock (springs as well). i noticed something under the car the other day that could be causing the car to unload. it appears under a hard launch the torque arm bolt in the rear slams into the floorboard (theres a nice big *** dent there under the car). also something that probably isnt helping is the front of the car is S-L-A-M-M-E-D. im talking with the skinnies the air damn is about 1" off the ground. its looks sooooo badass i cant bring myself to raise it up

i thought 11 was kinda low too, but the car seems to like right around 12 psi

heres the video, tell me what you think, launch was right at about 5400-5500

my car and your car are VERY VERY similar in the stance, wheels, and tire choice. only differnce is i am an auto. my front end is crazy low as well. its amplified by the rear being up with the tall tire. i dont believe the fornt being low hurts you one bit. i barely lift one tire but i go 1.4 60' without problems.

work on the unloading at that is what is killing your 60' times. gotta get the tq arm to work and keep the rear tires planted. once the rear unloads, goodbye traction.

also i dont want ot sound like a fuddy dutty but getting by a lame tech staff only hurts you. think safety bro. esp when you are experiencing lane walk at 122 mph at 11 psi of tire pressure.

Get a beefier torque arm. Help get some of that power to the wheels. Doesn't sound good that the rear is kicking out. You can try to beef up the rear sway bar but don't over do it or you'll hate the way the car handles on the street.

you check your tq arm angle? look for that negative 2 degrees of pinion angle. also try to stiffin up the front. too loose unloads the rear. good for wheelies, bad for 60'

just my .02

And people wonder why SGMP has a lot of cars for Sunday TNT's?

I'd like to sympathize, but I deal with wearing all the safety equipment for running the E.T.'s I do every summer, and you know Gainesville is no cooler in temps than up there, and if you can't suffer IMHO, run slower. It's not safe, and the rules are there for everyone's safety, not to skirt by someone trying to get by tech. Sorry to be but just my $.02

I will vouch for SGMP being a good track, but on marginal prep or hot days the groove gets even more important. All concrete tracks I've been told have narrow grooves, and after racing at SGMP in September at the NMCA race where I spun 5 out of 12 runs, I'll agree! My recent visit during the E.T. Finals I didn't spin a single time, but I damn sure lined up in the groove EVERY TIME!

I also agree that 11-12 pounds of air in the tires is probably hurting more than helping you. I'm also not a 6-speed expert so I can't explain the 1/8-mile to 1/4-mile pick-up, but the mph is high 10s if you can hook it.

Good luck!

Derek

i know i gotta get alittle more serious about safety with how quick the car is getting, i actually bought a helmet the other day which is a start i guess. the car still hasnt gone fast enough to need a 5pt or a fire jacket but its getting close so i guess i need to look into that.

but anyways, vid is up, any thoughts on how to make my car hook?

Thats a nice looking T/A you`ve got. I will agree with Villain about the safety stuff, if your in the 11s consistantly I would wear a helmet and fire jacket, thats what I do its safer. About getting it to hook, -2 on a good torque arm, deffinately get a drag swaybar w/adjustable end links and set right side 1/4" higher(thats what got my 98 Formula from 1.5 down to low 1.4 60'), dont set the fronts too soft, at least that stuff would help an auto. Good luck and have fun racing.

your car is definately unloading the rear tires. like i said before check your suspension geometry. honestly the launch looks really rough. i bet if we slowed it down the tire is wheelhoping bad up and down. i asked you before about the pinion angle and do you have relocation brackets? adjustable LCAs?

i would stiffen the rear shock as well.

It's hard to believe that you have less than 400 rwhp unless your race weight is pretty low. I don't launch nearly as hard as you (run nittos) but ran several 122+ mph traps at moroso. My better 60' times are in the 1.9s and I tend to spin pretty hard on the 1-2 shift. I launch around 2500 and normally run 92-94+ in the 8th. My best was on a 1.8 60' and ran 11.60 at 122.9. My car dyno'd at 438 rwhp. Haven't run in a long time.

I would think with your harder launch your 1/8 mile mph would be higher. I guess that tends to confirm that your car may be unloading.
