dragstrips in Orlando?
My buddy lives in Orlando and he just got a Trans Am. He's wondering where the closest drag strips are. Anyone know?

And don`t forget about Lakeland dragstrip only 30 miles from Orlando I-4 and Hwy 33, its an 1/8 track but on Thurs & Sat track prep is very good, great track and there open 52 weeks a year. Also payout for the Sat brackets is the highest around.

Caveman,
Yep, I agree that Orlando at times is a good hooking surface, but for TNT's, BMP and Gainesville seem to be the best places to go IMHO. Of course I haven't raced at Orlando on a TNT night, but I spun there on a bracket race night a few years back. I also haven't visited Lakeland yet, is that an IHRA track?

I dont know if there IHRA but they do have a very good turnout on Sat brackets, they run every weekend all year and the payouts are real good and track prep is also very good( I broke my HD alum driveshaft in half last Sat). Some fairly good drivers race there, it could be a good place for you to go in the off season to stay sharp.

Flipflop,
Read my comments again. Take a low 10 second tubbed car and I'm sure you could hook at multiple places a small tire car can't. I'm not saying Speedworld is the worst track, but I am saying there are better places in Florida. And that goes expecially for TNT nights. I don't think you can apply the World Street Finals to a track's everyday hooking ability. Hell, that'd be like saying Gainesville always hooks like at the Gatornationals.
Just trying to make a point, but not throwing the track under the bus.

That is an awesome picture. Very cool, thanks for posting!
As far as OSW goes, it IS hit or miss. Oddly enough, with all my complaining, some of my best times are at that track as well as my buddys. You just never know....

I think they are refering to the weekly test and tune events. They always prep the track for the no bull. Last sunday my car was spinning the drag radials to the 1/8 mile @ osw, I had no traction problems @ the no lip in Gainesville.

No my best time was at orlando the wensday before the no bull. Those runs were on et drags. The car ran the @ no lip on drag radials. It was about a .10 slower there. @ funday sunday the drag radials were still on the car. It ran an 11.08 smoking the tires to the 1/8 mile
