Default Going to Dragstrip for 1st time

I'm making my first tour out to Orlando Motor Speedway tonight. What kind of numbers should i be expecting to see from a 2000 Z a4 bone stock? I heard this place was more of a skating rink, but should be fun guaranteed

Have fun, I would go out there but I'm in south FL visiting the parents for the holidays. I would say you can expect mid-13's or so. Hopefully the track prep will just be "bad" and not "terrible" . It should be fun either way though.

OSW is not that bad if you know how to drive. friends of mine cut constant 1.6-1.7's all night (auto's) I can cut a 1.82-1.85 all night. just take your time when you start to stage, clean off your tires nice with a small burnout if you are on street tires.

I went out there last wed and the track prep was the best i've ever seen it. I'm heading out there again tonight.

EvilLs1, my car looks EXACTLY like yours except my ZR1s are chrome and I don't have halos.

The trick is to go with lanes 1 and 2. Traction blows if you go with any of the other lanes.

Hell yeah! that was fun **** even though i only ran 1x. LOL my window fogged up at the end of the run, i was like oh ****!, trying to look for the turn, missed it and had to do a 180. Shitty for the green Z28 beside me, he ran into the wall. But wining is wining right? When i get my BF's next week maybe i can pull some better 60's. Launching at 1200rpm is for the birds ;( i need a stall!

R/T- .066
60'- 2.331
1/8-9.477@78.27mph
1/4- 14.374@99.76mph ;(

Yeah I've had that window fogging up crap happen to me too. You've got a 13 second car for sure, just work on your launches.

Well, what is your current technique? What tires are you on? Tire pressure?

practice. practice practice. thats the only way you'll get better. just find a way to slowly let off the brakes, and roll into the throttle.

My windows fog EVERYTIME I go down the track I roll them down as soon as im done and they're clear by the time I get my slip... my weather stripping is f'ed so maybe that's why? I was going to go last night but my rearend took a huge dump on my garage floor.

Well i got there at 7:30 and didn't get to run till after 9:00. There emergency had to go out on a call so that was another 45min, + waiting for the bikes but it seemed to go fairly quick after that. Last night was the last one till after new years so that was probably a contributing factor.

I was running the stock z rated falken 245/50/16, they've been on the car for at least 4 years, since the lady i bought the car from never changed the tires, so atleast 30k on them. Tire pressure was around 23 in the back and a little more in the front.... so are my times average ? whats a good reaction time?

Ahh thats why, you need to get there at around 6pm or so, I can usually get 3 or so runs in before 8. After 8, I'll get one (maybe two) more in.

Your reaction time is good, but it does not affect your ET or trap speed. Your ET is a bit lower than average for a stock LS1, but it is only because of your 60'. Get some better tires and you should be able to get mid-13's with a nice launch.

So the best method is to foot brake to around 1100-1200rpms and to roll into the throttle ,Next session ill have some bfg DR's so maybe i can get some better times.
