Need help/advice in Daytona area. I bought my 98 Trans Am 6 months ago.Everything was fine until my tranny, A4 started slipping yesterday.Now it takes 3 seconds to shift gears and at WOT it some times bangs the rev limiter.Although I'm hoping it's not serious I'm sure it is.Any help would be apreciated.
Hate to say it but it sounds like its shot. You have 2 options, put a stock one back in there, or send it out to get rebuilt tough. A built one will probably cost you about 2200. Do a converter while you're at it.

joe is a smart guy... he can definately help you out i was talking with him a few days ago about my buddy's firehawk thats having a similar problem he can give you alot of good info on the 4l60e

Stan's said 2 grand,shopped around and found prices as low as 1400 but decided to get a built trans mail order.Ever heard anything about Mad dog transmissions?They sell a trans for 1620 loaded with goodies,they say it's good for 550 hp,just hope it is ,I'll be ordering in about 2 weeks when I have the cash.
personally if your gonna buy one i would try century transmission out of texas or rock on transmissions both of those companies seem to have a good product and not be outrageous on price
also i dont see why someone would brag about building a tranny to hold 550hp .. i know stockers blow with less power but as of now my stock tranny is fine and im pushing somewhere in that range of power
now 550 rwhp might be different story but being most of these claims are made with flywheel power in mind i dont find it that impressive
in any case post back up once you ge the new tranny in, a sof now a buddy of mine needs a new tranny and i know mine is not gonna last forever...
