cool cool, im probably going to get my motor pulled, cam installed, a new main bearing put in, and my tranny built at the same time....i was hoping to get all that done for under 4k....

hopefully he can do that....labor to put a cam in was in the 1k dollar range, a built tranny was about 1500 bucks, and im not sure how much someone would charge to do a bearing....

That is a little steep on the cam install. I have a few cars in jax that I have built or done work on. The next time i'm out at sonic I will look you up and see if I can help.

well to tell the truth im not a sheep....i know a grand is overkill.....but i figure to round it off, with place's charging 80$ an hour in labor....for a 12 hour job....im not exactly saying he'd charge me that

i honestly dont have 12 hours in a day where i can rip apart my car, let alone the tools for changing the valve springs the right way....

yellowbird shoot me a pm....

whitels1 thats what ive been hearing from a few guys here, but i wanted to see if any tampa people knew him....im actually gonna be calling him this evening and getting some numbers....

IM SICK OF THIS **** SITTING IN MY ROOM.....2K WORTH OF PARTS STARING ME DOWN FOR 2 MONTHS

a good 4L60e cost a minimum of 2K if you want to stand behind it. so adding that 1K for a cam install that takes you to 3K. replacing bearings and internal motor work costing 1K or so? its not that bad of a price. the biggest factor is what they are doing to rebuild the A4. a stock rebuild shouldnt cost more than 1500 honestly.

Staring does this guy have the shop to stand behind his work? That is always important, does he warranty his work.

yes he actually does...i talked to him the other day, he has about 5-6 guys who work for him, a machine shop, and tranny shop at his place also.....hes actually jammed up, he told me that he wouldnt be able to get to my car till the 2nd week of feb. hes got about 20 cars right now ahead of mine....

BRINGS ME TO THE PRESENT.......ive talked to the general manager at the shop who got the motor for me....explained to him its been less then 7 months since ive installed this motor...and the bottom end is coming out, he said since he knows me and ive gotten a good bit of work done at his shop he's going to work with me and work something out...its over warranty by 3k miles

i got the motor rebuild company out of him....very poor company....ill explain in another post...
