the first warranty was with who i bought the car from...so they chose where this motor came from....the warranty stimpulated the company could pick the motor of its choosing and where it came from.....if i knew they stoop that low as to get a used motor from a junkyard, i would have told them where they could stick that warranty

well heres the deal today....considering this motor is out of warranty, the option that has given to me, is that my friends shop will pay for half of a rebuilt motor from another company....not lkq...

why not just rebuild what you have? 2K goes a LONG way if you dont have any internal rotating assembly failure. stock stuff is damn strong imo (10 second cars all day)

Bummer on this man! I know about LKQ here in Gainesville, but never got anything from them, and I sure as hell wouldn't take a motor from them (I know you had no choice in the matter). At least it sounds like you're on track to getting a new bullet between the rails, but I think Gator's rec. could be a good one. Rebuild the existing engine if there's no block damage and you'll have a stronger one than another rebuild.

Good luck!

Derek

i think thats a pretty good idea also....but a few things are keeping me from that

1. ill be paying 2k for a new motor with a 3year 75k warranty
2. its a wrist pin so id have to disasemble the whole motor and if i did that id want a stroker kit....thats what i want but thats a huge amount of money...which i dont have budgeted right now
3. my CASH saved up is for my tranny rebuild, my cam install, and some suspension parts...thats already several thousand in itself....the new engine is going on the CREDIT CARD....

but yea, if i had a few extra bucks...id just rebuild it...but i like having a real warranty from a real company now

this motor...in writing...is supposed to be rebuilt not reman'd.....per invoice, it has a new rotating assembly, new seals, new valve train, and new bearings....the manager at the shop showed me a list...a used/reman'd motor was 5k installed....and rebuilt was 8k...of which i only have to pay 2k

i tried to convince him to just let me have a ls6 or ls2 motor and id pay the difference, but he said they exhange core for core..and theyd know the difference between the blocks...

john ill meet u at gainesville saturday ....were not pulling the bad motor till monday so ive got the car till sunday....gonna run this **** out of it, broken wrist pin and all

i am not knocking you. i just dont want to see you make another mistake. if its in writing, its all good. jasper deals with tons of motors. they are a good company. we use them all the time. just we use them in reman'd applications
