Default maaco in orlando

what do you guys think? I really need to get my front end resprayed.. its a different shade of red than the rest of the car and it looks hideous under synthetic light.. :/

I dont have a whole lot of money to spend and a reputable shop by my house wanted $800 just for a respray and to fix a dent on my hood.

any other suggestions are much ablidged

Maaco isn't actually known for quality work, but then again its just the front clip you want painted.

I would take it off and bring the clip to them just to assure myself there won't be any over spray anywhere on the car.

The only Maaco I know of is on 17-92 in Longwood.

For $800 you can buy a 60gal compressor ($400 at HomeDepot) and a HVLP paint gun ($300 incl hose, dryer, filter) a pint of red paint and a pint of clear with hardener.....

In fact, that's exactly what I did when I had to paint my rear quarter and the shops here wanted $1000 ...

Is it only the front bumper or the entire front (doors forward) ??

No offense bro, but if you pay Maaco to do your front end it will still not match the rest of your car, and it will still look hideous.

I agree. If you want a good paint match then buy the good paint. For example, Bens paint supply on OBT sells PPG paint. If you only need a pint for the bumper it's not that bad.... a gallon of the cheap "shopline" paint is about $140, the good stuff is $300.
You'll need less than a pint because it's mixed 1:1 with reducer but I think that's the smallest amount they sell....

just the front bumper

I don't want to spend the $800 on stuff that i'd only use one time.. I'm willing to spend like $400 or more.. theres not body damage just needs a respray. I'll buff the old paint off myself if need be.

It looks like crap from the owner before me driving on the highway so much and never using a car-bra or bothering to clean off the love bugs

when it comes to paint work, like most things in life, you get what you pay for. i tried to save a few bucks recently when having my slp hood painted. now my hood looks like crap. i should have just spent the extra $$ and had it done right the first time.

Have any of you actually had work done at the Maaco in Longwood?

FWIW, I've had paint work done on 2 cars there. Chuck does good work and has been doing it for over 20 years. He completely painted my Impala SS and it looked awesome. I had the front bumper pained on the Z back in January and it still looks good. I think it was $325...

I remember paying $290 for the bumper and the drivers door and they recleared the break light on the wing for free.

The previous owner had them paint my Corvette - I had overspray on mufflers, windshield, door panels, inside the rims, inside of the tires, under the hood and so on....

"sir... do you want us to mask the windows or just roll them down ?"

"sir... do you want us to wash the car before we paint it?"

Don't laugh. In 1988, I went to pick up my 86 Turbo Coupe from the local Ford stealership after a warranty repaint. It had 2 parking tickets in the glove compartment, (the paint manager was driving it home at night), and they painted AND cleared over a "house fly" on the roof! True story.

Ouch. My friend got a Maaco job on his Civic, it looked good due to the fact that prior to that his car was the typical import deal, 4 or 5 different colors. I didn't think it looked bad, my grandpa had a Maaco job on a buick, it never peeled off or anything over a 8 year period.
