Default Lights Pulsating

Anybody got an issue with your lights pulsating? Mine's been doing it for about 3 years now ... thinking either a bad ground somewhere in the wiring harness, or , maybe alternator not getting a good ground or connection. I've checked everything I know to check and can't find anything wrong anywhere.

Anybody ever had this issue? It's my headlights, dash lights, and seems to be my whole lighting system. When I rev to higher rpm's, it gets somewhat worse. It's driving me a little crazy, but, doesn't affect how the car runs at all ... anybody got any ideas?

Do you have an underdrive pulley?

i have the same problem but because i have a system in the car and it only does it when the car is under load. if it is idling it is fine.. stronger alternator will take care of it. i think factory is + - 100 amps.

Mine does it when the electric air pump kicks in, drawing a load. I thought this was a common thing.

Mine does it too. The alt charges but I believe its due to worn diodes. Sometime results from exposure to water. My 98 alt is mounted lower on the D/S of the block. Its cool for now but as soon the charge current changes. Swap it out.

It started pulsing when there was only about 35,000k on the car. It does it idling or under load ... a little worse under load. I do have an underdrive pulley, but, I believe that would be a constant amperage draw under the same 12-14.5v output and would eventually run down the battery. Ohms Meter does not show a voltage fluctuation, so, it's getting a sufficient charge at the battery. It's seems more like a poorly insulated electrical wire too close to a source of power generation ... alternator certainly is a possibility if the interwindings have an arci'ng issue.

Wonder if a bad coil pack would cause something like this?

It could be some dirty/corroded grounds. Check them out.

I had one that did it for a while, then the alternator went out. I had it rebuilt, and the problem was gone. The tech @ the auto electric place said it was the voltage regulator inside the alternator.

That and a bad alt. I just replaced mine and I had the same problems, but my alternator had been getting pissed on by power steering fluid before I bought the car. Could be a bad ground somewhere too. I have yet to fix all my lighting problems though, I can only get one ******* fog light to come on lol.

the diode trio in the alt is bad it is letting a/c voltage get through and is giving you the pulsing lights.

was happening to me for awhile all of a sudden.i put in a fuel pump wiring harness and had to take off the bolt for the wire to the alternator because thats where the harness gets power so after i retightened it it stopped the pulsing.might be worth a try.

Every LSx F body I've ever owned has done it, including the three we currently have. Hell, the '02 has done it from day one.

at least if those go bad it takes like 10 minutes to replace one and you don't have to jack the car up!
