Default I got hurt tonight

Well, I was changing light bulbs in my kitchen, they are the vaulted ceiling kinds that are REALLY high up, like 20 foot or something.

And yes I know (NOW) that they make a tool to change out these lightbulbs without the use of a ladder.

So anyways, I'm on the third lightbulb, and the ladder skids out from underneath me. It was an extension ladder propped up against the wall and secure (yeah right) against the floor.

So I fell about 20 feet, and landed on my left side. The ladder skid down the wall, hit the cabinet, about ripped a door off, hit the metal light thing about the stove, ripped it OFF, which put a HUGE whole in my rangetop stove. It has a glass top with the four burners in the glass. Not sure what that's called.

Jess got out of the way in time, but something hit her and gave her a slight bruise. Me not so lucky.

My shoulder is killing me, my right leg hit the floor (even though I hit the ground on my left) and indented the tile, so my right knee is fubarred, and my leg below my left knee and left foot are bruised and cut up.

I'm in alot of pain right now, but God, how scary this crap was.

It could have been worse, ALOT worse, so I'm thankful for that, but now we are looking for a new stove.

Jason - sorry to hear. Glad you're OK. I have an extra stove that I'm not using - you can have it. It's electric - not a glass top, but it works just fine and is in good shape. Let me know...

sucks man, hopefully you'll be ok. just get to a physician or chiropractor to check you out make sure nothing is seriously injured. ive taken some nasty hits and falls in my life and the pain just goes away after a while as long as you rest and don't keep abusing your body.

Thank God that the girls weren't close by. I'm glad that you
didn't get hurt any worse. Are you going to see a Dr. to get
injuries checked out? Is Jess ok? I'm glad she wasn't hurt
as bad. I'll say a prayer for you guys. Let us know if you
need anything.

"The pain just goes away after a while as long as you rest and

That is kind of hard to do, especially those of us who are parents.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. They help brighten my outlook on the pain, sounds corny, but it does help.

I wish it was that simple, I'm an hour early to work today cause I couldn't sleep, can barely raise my left arm, and I have loads to do. Thank god I'm everyone's manager and can just tell someone else to do my job for me.

thanks for the offer, Jess is actually seeing if she can find a repair for the rangetop, she really likes the glass look. But THANK YOU for the offer. It means alot to know people that kind enough to offer things like this.

No Doctor, I'm stubborn, if the serious pain in my left shoulder doesn't subside by around Thursday, then I'll go to get checked out, but as of right now, I'm pretty sure with the shock having worn off, that I didn't break anything, so what can the doctor do? Charge me for the visit and say "Get lots of rest and relax, please pay the nurse on your way out"

yeah with a 3 and a half year old, and an 11 month old, plus jess is kinda under the weather, than Christmas is like 8 days away, and my brother, sis in law, and nephew are coming down so we have to get the house ready for them since they have never seen my house, oh geez, too much to do....

I wish I could take the time off, I am literally second in command of my business, only answering to the Owner of the business, so when I'm gone, and I wish I was joking, this place slows down ALOT!!! So me missing a day could back log the place by a week, let alone a full week rest and relaxation, I don't want to think about that. I'm a work-aholic.

Thanks, me too.

Thank you again for the kind words. Both my legs, and both knees are bruised pretty good, the left shoulder is killing me, but at least since the shock has worn off, I don't feel like i broke anything, and I didn't hit my head.

Jess is alright, she just has a small bruise on one of her arms. She has no idea where it came from. Things happened to quickly. Sara, my three and a half year old, sadly, saw the whole thing, but it didn't seem to tramatize her or anything, she was my little nurse til she went to bed.

It's the little things that matter.

Glad you and your family are not seriously injured past ambulatory care requirements, Jason. Hang in there and go home early to soak in the tub. The hot water will do you a lot of good and will relieve the soreness.

Hate that you fell so hard. It sucks being injured and having to prep for family coming down, so take it easy and don't try to over-do it. Get better fast brother.

Jason my thoughts are with you for a speedy recovery. Go slow and easy for the next week and you will be ready for the holidays.
