Yep, political correctness is gonna be our downfall. I honestly think I would be offended myself if I was given an easier test because of my race.

Soon maybe the regular white guy is gonna be the minority. Maybe then everyone will be treated equal.

But that is still not addressing Huckabee's past poor decisions. Trust me, I love what he has to say now. I just question his past stances. I also heard he is on the bandwagon for "global warming". I really dont like that.

when the white guy is the minority that is when we become extinct. b/c no one will care about us and they will not give us the rights that they had when the were the minority.
i think he's too much of a "good ole' boy" to worry about "global warming"... who knows though. he has my support b/c i dont see another better candidate.

yep and if they dont get their way the next thing you know here comes al sharpton strutin around acting like a ***.

Lets hope not. In the words of the tree huggers, "extinction is forever".

The problem with "global warming" is that again, you offend people if you say it is a farce because the creator of the internet says it is real. If the global warming scare helps get the USA energy independent then great, but it looks more like it is just gonna further alienate us.

Well I hope all of yall that are thinking about voting yes realize that if they don't get if off your property, they are gonna get it somewhere else. They can add more to that all ready high gas tax that we have. Sales taxes can go up, I mean it is almost endless. Would you rather pay a tax on one thing once a year or many things all the time?!?

Well if we vote NO, we will definatly get no relief. If we vote yes, there is a chance of relief. They might get it another way, but at least there is a chance of relief. No chance at all if you vote NO. There is a chance they wont raise other taxes and who knows, they might actually reign in some of the rampant spending.

this is a state issue so dont look at it as a county thing...this will screw over alot of people just so we can move MORE ******* people into this state, personally we need to make it harder for people to move here....its hard to find a REAL floridian anymore, along with the population is out growing its services by far...

I am voting yes because as stated, at least there is a chance we will get some tax relief. I haven't seen ANY change in county services since property taxes went ballistic, all you hear about on the news is government corruption where some piece of **** is stealing tax payers money!! As far as whites becoming the minority, just come down to Dade or Broward county and you can experience it first hand!! I think Romney is best cannidate because of his immigration stance as well as his tax ideas. I have the perfect solution for wellfare.... let white people pay for white wellfare, the blacks pay for black wellfare and hispanic pay for hispanic wellfare, then we would see how many people still support the current system that is in place. I say if you don't want to work , then you don't eat either, at least not on my dime!

I think that yall do have good points on voting yes, but not to sound like a dick or anything need to come on over to the real world of things. "There is a chance orf relief"? I don't see how anybody could actually believe that they would take away these taxes and not tax us somewhere else. I can tell you what, they ain't gonna take away this property tax and not get there money somewhere else.

But do any of yall that say vote Yes happen to work for the state or city? Because I can't really see anyone that works for the state to vote yes because that would just be taking away from what they might gain.

well i will be 46 this year and lived here in jax pretty much all my life and the way i look at it is a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. i would rather have the cash in my pocket NOW and worry about another tax/fee later on down the road.

as far as the state/public workers go there are a few branches that could use a few cut-backs or even be privatized. it costs over $10,000 here (per student) in jax to send your child to public school when there are several private schools (where its ok to pray, talk about god and not so many guns) your child could attend for half that price. and i dont know about you, but i really get tired of seeing these state/county guys either sleeping or playing grab-*** while they are supposed to be working. maybe a little accountability would be exactly what we need.

i also think Jacob has it exactly right. we are being over-run by people moving here. i think some sort of inpact fee would be a great idea to help take some of the strain off our infrature structure and resources.

i think the fair tax is a great idea, under the current tax system the more you make the more they take, so you basically get penalized for succeeding, the better the position the more the money the higher the tax bracket, screw the IRS!

With very good reasoning for arguement on both sides, the most important thing to me are the retired and disabled folks who bought their homes on a fixed income whoa re being forced to sell their homes due to property taxs skyrocketing. While some of the older folks are sort of 'grandfathered in', many haven't lived in Florida long enough to get the already-existing tax exclusion. If the YES vote wins out, then, these folks lose out on what is seen to be 'minimal tax relief'. Minimal to them means (to some of them) eating or not eating vs being able to still make their tax payment on their home. Then again, a NO vote might mean a poor response time when they need medical attention.
I'm not for either a
yes
or a
no
vote ... not sure which way to vote. Either way, change or no change at all is still going to hurt people. To me it's a very difficult issue to decide on, no matter how it is presented.

I work for the city currently. I was in the navy for 6 years prior to that. At both I see and have seen simple things that make/made me wonder, "why are we blowing money like this?". I would assume most military guys have seen the $5000 toilet and $300 hammer or something of the sort along the way, right? hahaa... I'm not speaking for every aspect here, just saying as a lower ranking person in both I'm able to spot simple things so why dont the leaders?

Here's my angle or problem, which I dont expect to change. This is also just my opinion I guess :

- If you take more money from me, I will look for better ways to more efficiently spend my money. THATS ME THOUGH... For instance, I would rather start packing a lunch everyday instead of just cutting the camaro out of my life to make up the difference. In my experiences the government doesn't do that. They just try to cut something out vs. finding a more effective way of managing what they have. HELL, any idiot can run the government if the solution to every problem is just throw money at it.

Other mentionables......
- I like the fair tax concept. Not sure of how it would play out but sounds good on paper.
- I wish I could cast a negative vote at the polls. So, say I dont like anybody, but, I REALLY dont like one of them, I could detract from their total. haha...

This is an argument that I would expect from somebody that does not own property. Fortunately most additional taxing attempts have to approved by the voters. There are ways that the city and county governments can get into your pockets, but don't you think that the electorate is getting a little fed up with the current level of taxation? I would think trying to pass additional taxes without approval from the constituents will be akin to political suicide.

The government at all levels gets way too much of our money and spends it on stupid ****. Let the government make cuts like the rest of us.

I do feel for the people who may lose their jobs. I also feel for poor people.
I DO NOT think government taxing and spending is the answer.

Personal responsibility and hard work is the answer.

Life is not always fair. Government CANNOT make it fair. When it tries it hurts some of us and still does not help that much.

Socialism has failed everywhere it has been tried. For the life of me I don't know why democrats and some republicans can't figure that out.

Agreed, 100%!!! Everyone's problems cant be fixed with more government programs. In fact it actually kills the human spirit. Why work for it when you can get it for free?

I will definitely be voting NO! It will affect all Law Enforcement everywhere and it really hits home for me since I am in the police academy. I know people complain about cops being dicks and all, but think about what it would be like if there were none at all or very little? There would be chaos. I got a handout in class about that the other day and the average home owner in FL will save an average of $240 a year. So im sure all the old people all over FL are thinking, woo hoo! $20 a month! Is twenty bucks a month really worth the cost of having no officers? Not to me. Vote NO!!!
