Default Car's killin me...

With little issues and stuff. Made it to RevXtreme to get CountryBoy to tune it, made it there, found a lot of problems I need to fix, but it's pulling 100% of fuel from the passenger side cylinder bank. And it will run fine in Park or Neutral, but as soon as it sees gear it stalls. Anyone have any ideas? It stranded me after I went to get a friend who doesn't have a car so we could work on this one. I had it towed. We'll work on the exhaust leaks and vacuum leaks, but I can't figure out why it keeps stalling going into gear. It sounds good though. I got some compliments at RevX about the sound. First time I'd been complimented on it in a year. Felt good. Oh, and people kept honking at me and giving me thumbs up on the side of the road. lol though I dunno if they were being sarcastic.

My trans am was doing that to me 2 months ago the cat was clogged so badly it could not breath.Cat delete and she ran better than ever.

No cats though right Jon. What is it idleing at in Park? Was it doing this at Rev Extreme or just on the way home?

If its a fueling problem only on one side, my first inclination would be to look at the 02 sensor on that side. Saw a problem very similar to this not to long ago, the owner had installed an A/F guage on his narrowband, and the guage had failed causing his 02 on the one side to go crazy, but did not pop any codes.

If you have an exhaust leak near the 02, it can also cause problems like this. The vacuum leaks you spoke of can defenetily negatively affect the motors ability to transistion in and out of gear properly whithout stalling

1150 rpm. Yeah, no cats, no mufflers.

Eurospec2, we were thinking of those leaks, we have taken care of some of them. it did it at RevExtreme, not on the way there, and not on the way back. It made it back home and then to a friend's house to pick him up so we could go back to my house to work on the car and it started doing it again.

Well, fuel trims are learned over drive time, if your tuner made any changes while you were there and flashed your PCM, those fuel trime would have been reset. In your case, if your 02 is not functioning properly for whatever reason, the re-flash and clear could have solved it temporarily, but as you drove for a while it re-learned itself back into its bad habits.

Quite a few possibilities to be honest without having much technical data. You say it was "pulling 100% fuel from the passenger side cylinder bank" which I would guess the long term trim on bank 2 were -25% and the short terms on bank 2 were -25% or worse. This should set a rich code and more likely to be a faulty oxygen sensor stuck at low voltage. Most likely not a vacuum leak as the fuel trims would go positive.

If it has Pacesetters and you used the rediculous cut and splice extensions for the front oxygen sensors I would start there by replacing the passenger side oxygen sensor and use a proper extension.

Another cause that I have seen is a faulty injector intermittently hanging wide open on one of the passenger side cylinders. Could also be a something in the injector harness on the ground circuit intermittently shorted to ground for one of the passenger side injectors causing a wide open injector also.

Now if you meant ir was taking away fuel it could still be an oxygen sensor and/or the harness extension splice if used, or a vacuum or exhaust leak as mentioned.

This could raise heck with going into gear. You did not mention what stall converter you have in the car, but if it is a stock converter and having a fueling issue it can cause it to stall. Also not having the proper idle parameters in the program can cause issues.

Again, quite a few potential issues that are relatively easy to go through. Once any mechanical, sensor and wiring issues are resolved then the tuning can really be done. I am sure Country Boy went over this stuff with you already.

We didn't use an extension. But we do have extra o2 sensors, should we swap it.

We got it running again, but I don't know if it runs in gear, it melted the battery wires, which we replaced and we plugged in a sensor and now it wants to idle at 400 rpm. Then revs to about 1600 when it realizes it can't idle at 400.
