I raced on the street back in the day but have long since stopped. One sat. night I was supposed to be with all the guys, I had to be somewhere else and troopers, sherriffs, and police together stormed the crowd. Bunch of people went to jail and cars were taken. I didn't take my good luck for granted.
Not only that, but looking back, I am very thankful I was never involved in an accident.

Plus, the track is so much better, good sticky track, fair starts, timeslip, no morons pulling in front of you,you know for sure who won when it's close, you can run and watch all night without looking over your shoulder, etc., etc.

I agree completely about the track, but when I lived in Orlando I hated going to OSW. It was a total waste of money. You pay your money expecting to get a few runs in, but you were lucky if you got more than 2 runs in the entire night. Way too many POS cars out there blowing up and shutting down the track for a half an hour. I don't know how many nights I went out there and saw them prep the track maybe once even after all the cars that had run. They dont call it "Orlando Spin World" for nothing.
I certainly don't reccomend racing in Orange county on the streets, but untill the alternative gets better I can see why it still takes place so much.

I realize not everyone is lucky enough to have Bradenton Motorsports Park close by, but even they get choked up with ricers sometimes.
Still better than the alternative
I grew up in the country driving my dad's 454 half-ton truck to the store at 14 years old, we raced everything on the street, those days are pretty much over.

Wreckless driving tickets are not just a points ticket, it is considered a misdimeaner and the cop can arrest you for it. Typically they just give you a notice to appear, depending on how bad whatever they stopped you for was. But they can arrest you and impound your car. It has been that way for years, because this is exactly what happened to me back in 1988. It took 6 months and $1200 to get my car back, and they left the window open the whole time. Plus I had to hire a lawyer and spend $3000 in fees and fines to get my lisence straightened out, and they finally dropped it down to careless driving. It is called "willfull and wanton wreckless driving" on the report.

I wouldnt consider what you describe here cracking down though. A pack of high performance cars pass some cops, what do you suppose they think you are doing? Of course they are gonna be curious and follow you. Hell, everytime I drive my car and I pass a cop they follow me. And that is when it is just one of me. Til they see I am an old fat guy, then they leave me alone.

when they see my young *** in a loud Trans Am, im getting mininum 3+ tickets and/or getting harrassed/thrown in the back seat of the crown vic jus to scare me. Lmao. Me and my cousin joke about it all the time, they love me for some reason, and thats that my car is a dark blue color. Its not like its 'arrest me red'. I once got 3 tickets, for EACH of my tinted windows just for the hell of it, but no for some reason i didnt get a ticket for my 300 decibel "louder than a train horn" LT/ory/Loudmouth exhaust lol. Anyways yea its good to have a nice fast loud car and be an older person, you dont get as much bullshit and you can get away with more stuff sometimes...guess its just the maturity thing, lol you know you still race tho

If your going to do it leave the seen take a couple of your crew and a couple of theres in the two car your going to race. Less cars less suspicions. Have a predetermined place just the couple of you and do the race. If your going to be at the meeting place park away from every one else. Walking from a little of the beaten pass is better then jumping in your car and being blocked in. This is coming from someone that has done a lot of street racing and my fare share of time in jail cells from street racing. Now I have three kids and no time to street race.

I've been out to OSW twice, and got lucky twice. Got 6+ runs both times. First track I ever went to was Sunshine, and well thats where shittyness was. I paid $20 and got two runs down a 1/8 track, almost completely worthless, except the learning experience.

Thats the way I see it, FL tracks are crowed, everywhere I hear. I hate hearing from guys in the Carolina's that get so many runs they get sick of it and go home. I'm sure if we all could get 15+ runs in there wouldn't be much action on the street.

For me all 1/4 tracks are almost or are more than 2 hours away, then its all luck, what bullshit! They always complain about street racing in various parts of FL, yet no new tracks are being built.

Oh cops love sports cars and when they see a GROUP of young drivers in sports cars...I swear their having an orgasm in their patrol car. Only reason I had my windows tinted....so they couldnt look in and see Im 18.

Now Im not going to beat the dead horse that has been heard 1000 times about street racing vs. track. Just if your driving a sports car with other sports cars around you and a crew or spectators following you expect cops to be drawn to you like flies to ****. Racing or not

You could run at an NHRA event and you wouldn't get traction on street tires with 850rwhp, you must be a real good streetracer. My purple Firebird makes 1100hp and I've been on the bumper at OSW

I really think its funny when someone in a truck is pulling their muscle car on a trailer around duval amidst a group of sportscars... and then wonder why they can seem to get away from the police. haha...

I have been out to OSW on a points night and its night and day compared to T&T. Best pass on a T&T is always the first it seems.

Orlando hooks when its good..
