actually you are suppose to have 35% on your driver and passenger side windows and the back can be as dark as you want them. my dad tints windows and has been doing so for 25 years just a heads up...

but most likely you wont get pulled over for having 15% or even 5%

i doubt you would have a problem if you got in an accident but who knows for sur ei guess your insurance company would make that decision but you could always roll your windows down and then they wouldnt know lol...

i really wasnt trying to worry you just letting you know. i have always had dark tint and never had a problem. and i know probable 95% of the people on here have never had an issue

I always thought it was 10% on the back and 15% on the side windows.

I want to say it's 28% as well. I went with 20% and it is a nice percentage. Not to dark but not to light. Now that I think about it... 35% sounds more like it.

Here it is folks:

Florida Window Tint Law

Florida Tint Law Enacted: 1991
HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN FLORIDA?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Florida, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.
WindshieldNon-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line. Front Side WindowsMust allow more than 28% of light in.Back Side WindowsMust allow more than 15% of light in.Rear WindowMust allow more than 15% of light in. HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN FLORIDA?

Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light.
Front Side WindowsMust not be more than 25% reflective.Back Side WindowsMust not be more than 25% reflective. OTHER FLORIDA RULES AND REGULATIONS
Restricted ColorsNo colors of tint are explicitly banned. Side MirrorsDual side mirrors are required if back window is tinted. Certificate RequirementsManufacturers of film do NOT need to certify the film they sell in the state. Sticker RequirementsThe sticker to identify legal tinting is required on the inside of the driver’s side doorjamb. Medical ExemptionState allows medical exemptions for special tint. For more details about the specific terms of the exemption, consult your state law.

Thats pretty dumb when you'll see delivery vans or trucks (with a bed capper) that are totally windowless in the back but yet cars with windows need to have 15% in the back. hehe.. oh well.

If you would like to try and get away with tinting the windshield, you'll have to use a real light kind of tint like 35% or higher for it. Then get a second layer just along the top edge thats like 20% or lower and it will give the appearance that only the top is tinted. Also, along with that, you'll need to tint the rest of the windows 20% or darker to help disguise the windshield tint. I know a guy that has it done. I think he has 35% on the windshield but, 5% everywhere else. Truck looks totally illegal but, I guess it just depends how lucky you are and how the cops are where you live.

If you put 35% on the windshield, you are going to get pulled over. It is obvious. If you put like 90% with a glare strip, you might get away with it. I know 2 people that have it. One with a daily drive pos. The other is a "street legal" drag car.

yeah, I wasn't thinking when I said 35%. I guess 35% would be a little dark.. hehe.. I dont know whats on the guys windshield that I know.. You cant really tell its tinted but then again, the rest of the stuff is so dark that you wouldn't notice the windshield anyway. You can put your face right up to the glass (drivers window) and try and look in and cant see a damn thing. ALSO, IMO, dipping below 20% is shitty for seeing out of your windows at night. My wife has 5% on the camry and I have to roll the windows down making a turn sometimes in the neighborhood for fear I'm going to run somebody over. hehe..

i wouldn't risk getting the windshield tinted. most places will charge $100 or more to do it and who knows how long it will take until a cop pulls you over and catches it.

I have 20% all around and have had no problems. My neighbor across the street has a trailblazer with 2% tint all around, also never had a problem. I do not think the Miami cops care about tint as much as other cities or states.

well i have 0.5% tint on my front 2 windows of my truck and ive only gotten one ticket from it so far. its been on there for about 2 1/2 years. they raised the price of non moving violations to 78.50$ right along when the outlawed flowmaster mufflers and euro tailights around 2 months ago in the state of florida. i guess it depends what part you live in.
but the other option is to get reflective tint thats like 50% and you cant see S#!+ through it
most people dont like it tho
