Default Some BS you should read

so two years ago my stepdad bought a 76 stingray 1 owner 76k miles, well after pulling the motor and tranny and relizing the car need some work he decided to take it to wade corvette shop in jax fl and 1 year almost 9 months later the car was giving to me and my brother while it still sat at wades the sage began.

back in august of 06 the car was dropped off with a car cover incase it was to be left outside, the body bushings, floor pans and front end along with a rad support was supposed to be replaced. after stopping by every couple weeks he kept telling he was realy busy and it would be done soon. 6 months go by still nothing done so he tells wade either get it done or we can settle this in court,on top of that the cars beeing sitting under a tree with out the cover which is inside it, so a week or two go by and what was paid for was finally done.i would have ended it there, but my step dad being the nice guy he is sometimes decided to go ahead ad have him do the interior.

june of 07 come around nothing else has been touches still, my stepdad kinda slacks off being busy from work and what not and time grows between visits.

dec 07 wade calls and say you can come up with all the money i can have it done in a few days plus some , being xmas kinda hard specially being he hadnt touch it still.

now may of 08 my stepdad just bought a 60 f100 and decided he pass the ray on to me and my brother to build and would help us out with everything. so me being the kinda person who is ready to dive into it i gave wade a call. first time i called got no wade but left a message with one of his guy said he call back, day goes by no call so i call him again wade answers and tells me the car will be done in 5 days being a weekend coming up i gave gave with a few extra. about 7 days later i go out to see the car, he says its not done at this point i was kinda pissed and was like well wtf when it gonna be done he replys with "give a weekend or something", i told him "you have had it for almost 2 years youve had your weekend". he tells me friday it will be ready. so me and my brother show up friday truck and trailor and he tells us hes closed we can come get it tuesday. so today my brother and stepdad go to pick up the car half the interiors not in it and the steering wheel on it wont turn it. and apperently im not allowed back up there because im an ******* because i wanted my car back. so right now my stingrays missing half the interior and he wouldnt give us our money back so well see him in cuort probly.

sorry this is so long but i had to vent and let other people know cause this is bs.

Why in the world would you keep going back to that guy after years of bad prior experiences?

Why did you give him money up front? In Florida any business that does any type of work to a vehicle MUST give you a written estimate signed by you for approval before work is started. Any new problems that changes the original estimate must also be approved and signed by you, a telephone approval does not count. If that criteria is not met, then when you get to court you are NOT liable to pay for the work. There's a name for this act.....it's a little known one by little automotive shops, and sometimes they get screwed cause they didn't do the estimates correctly. The name of the act has slipped my mind.

its a 68 fastback that has been at don barry since feb 04 in for a full restoration. we have gone back and forth with them about money. they kept telling my dad they wanted more money and it finally got to the point where i told my dad to tell them NO. work was not getting done and they were still requesting more money. so we sat down with Don and i told him that we have given them over 50% of the money and 50% of the work has not been done. from that point forward when work was completed we would go check it out and then they would be paid after inspection. now after 4 years later and a bunch of BS with them we finally got the mustang back. however when i put it in the garage under shop lights it looks like the paint has been washed with a scotch brite pad. so now it will be going back to have the paint buffed and fixed. do NOT, and i repeat, DO NOT ever take your car to Don Barry Classic Mustang.
maybe it's all these westside shops that are horrible.

My buddy took his 67 mustang there a few years ago, charged him WAY to much for parts and WAY to much for labor, not to mention there ******** to talk to.
