Seriously?

I agree with John, 100%. Yeah, global warming is a scam as well as half of the other things. It's all about making a buck and all hype. Yeah, "Go Green", it's trendy. Check into the whole RoHS compliance issue. Another one thats a pain in the ***.. Lead free this and that. That started in Europe too and making its way into the USA and a pain for manufacturing industries.
I paid $3.92 for premium 93 octane yesterday when I filled up my boat. I paid $4.39 only a month ago at the same place, so just the threat of drilling has done its job, imagine if they actually let us. Job creation, energy independance, lower gas prices, and less golf carts on the road!!! WOOOOHOOOOO!! I almost ran over one of them stupid looking smart cars in my 3/4 ton extended cab longbed Chevy truck today. He decided he didnt have to stop at a 4 way stop intesection that I was allready driving through. That would have been messy.
Let's make excuses as to why we have to have high energy cost. Then we can use the high cost of energy to nearly eliminate the middle class. How? High energy cost is a much smaller burden on a billionare than me. As cost of energy goes up, quality of life for those that are balancing in the middle class goes down because they can't afford it, and eventually they fall into the lower class. The middle class is what really makes our country revolutionary, BTW. Without the middle class, there is no government responsibility to the people because the people do not have the means to challenge their government (as is our right, written into the Constitution). The bottom line is greed, both of power and wealth. It's sickening to think that half of our government doesn't care about this country at all, only themselves. At least we have the other half, that, while still greedy, they are not willing to sacrifice the overall welfare of their "subjects" to obtain their wealth and power.
Don't ever forget that Gore is getting rich trading carbon credits, while Clinton is getting kickbacks from a company in Dubai that, until recently, regulated the price of OUR oil. WTF?! Why does Dubai care about the cost of OUR oil? 'Cause they're getting rich off of it, that's why. Before I am accused of being a right-wing extremist, I should also remind you that Cheney is getting all kinds of funds for the "services" that his companies are now providing to the military. I don't understand why the military cannot operate the systems of they're own buildings. I mean, I operated NUCLEAR ******* REACTORS for a living, I think I can handle the thermostat in my building, and I hate that I have to pay some ***-hat TRIPLE so that he can come out on an unscheduled day and turn on the heat for me. He's got an attitude cause he's called in on a Sunday to turn the temp down in the building a bit, and I've got an attitude cause I've got to be there anyway on a duty day, and I'm a little pissed that the government that I work for doesn't believe that I am intelligent enough to operate a piece of equipment that exist in almost every home in America.
The result is that we on the "deckplate" level have to put up with stupidity like watching snobby Prius drivers "waft" past us on their way to the handicapped/hybrid spot, confident that they are making trees greener and that we are the
because they have bought into ALL of the information that is being thrown at us, without engaging their own brain and doing a little research.Don't get me wrong, I care about the environment. I like spending days on the hiking trail, and never want to see our natural environments disappear, but I strongly feel that many of our current methods of "conservation and preservation" only serve to line certain people's pockets, and damage the class of people that makes the USA great. We are still great, BTW, and I don't want to hear anyone say different until you spend some time in the OTHER 97% of the world.
Sorry about the rant. I've spent most of my adult life working around nuclear power plants AND the Louisiana oil fields, and this subject can get me a little heated.
