They are two completely different things. You have to take many things into consideration.

Nitrous will be much cheaper to purchase and install but the power isn't always there. You have to make sure you remember to refill your bottle or you won't have the power when you really need it most.

A supercharger will cost a lot more to purchase and install but you will always have the power, unlike nitrous. Plus, a blower makes a hell of a nice noise.

Force Induction is the way to go on a every day driven car, in my opinion. I have nitrous on my car, I like it, but I wish I would of gone with some sort of other force induction. My reason behind that is because I want that sort of power I make on the bottle there all the time.

Yeah, more money but look at it in terms of the long run. Well worth it I think.

If I were you with a 408, I'd go turbo (single or twin).
An STS kit will be the cheapiest/disregard what everyone says about them. If there done right you can make great power despite the motor size. APS, more expensive but they already make a twin kit that is for bigger cubed motors like yours. Custom kits are an option to.

There are many more kit that are available that are out there.

Chat with some vendors/tuners (to the left) and I'am sure they'll recommend something. Or even a search on here. The Forced Induction section as well as this site has endless amounts of info.

Good luck with your decision.

It depends on what your goals for the car are.

6 speed or A4?

Is it street only, do you take it to the track? If you do take it to the track, do you want to put a rollbar in to go faster then 11.5?

My off the cuff opinion from the lack of information is a supercharger, but if you give more details about your intended use, time frames for mods and budget etc we could give you a much more educated opinion

That was my thought too. A 100 shot with a fully decked out system is less than $1k. My blower package was like $5400 plus plus plus. I think I am up to $16k in mods.....and still have the stock long block minus cam....

Forced induction is the way too go. I have put high miles on several supercharged cars. NOS sucks unless you race and have the motor properly built for it.

Nitrous is like a hot chick with a STD you wanna hit it but you're afraid of the consequences.

If you want the power all the times a supercharger or turbo is the way to go. Spray is nice but the bottle does run out sooner or later. Personally I have spray on 2 cars and like it b/c it won't affect the car if you aren't using it and it's a lot cheaper to get into versus the forced induction route. But if you don't have a lot of self control you'll go through bottles quickly!

If its a daily driver I would go with a nice 408 with good cylinder heads and a medium sized cam. That will be a low 11 to 10.8 car and a nice car for every day. If you go with n2o you have to keep filling bottles. With a blower or turbo on a daily driven car there is always gonna be some stupid little issues with the car when you drive it every day, lots of engine bay heat w/blower- turbo. Boost stresses everything in the motor and driveline, just too much parts breakage for daily driver.

I think Caveman hits the nail on the head! I'm sure he see's what FI does when pushed at the track. I went with a big cube NA setup and Eurospec and the EFI Alchemy crew is setting it up and tuning. The results are soon to come. Mostly it depends on what you really want.

like everybody else has said it just depends on what you want the car to do and how you want it to act.

With the blower you can have better drivability because you can have a lot milder cam and make all the power you want with boost.

Power is power ... go cheap ... go nitrous. In the end, it will be less money. Though you'll have to refill the bottle, at least you won't have to be rebuidling head units and the like. In hot weather, the 408cid LOVES the cold nitrous. All have their advantages and disadvantages, but, unless you have money to burn, literally, go with nitrous. You can spray safe.
