Default guys with vented rocker covers inside

I had a problem with crank case pressure on the dyno awhile ago. I've since replaced my pcv valve and vented the front of the passenger side rocker cover with a little air filter. Today I made several 6k shifts and when I got home and popped the hood to make sure every thing is still in one piece. I noticed some oil on the rocker cover and the little filter was soaked. We're talking 2-3 oz max so its not puddles. Just enough to make a small mess. Would this be considered normal for blower engines or do I need to look in to something.

Default my vent system

Here is my venting system on my TT ZO6 Vette. You can see the passenger side. The driver side is the same but runs behind the motor and goes to a catch can in by the battery.

normal

I did a catchcan with a breather also from the valve cover.
You can do it cheap with the same filter u have on a plastic or metal catch can using rubber hose or do it with AN line like some do.

I bought two breather cans for my setup, but one should do it for you. You can buy the breather can with a filter already on it from Summit or Jegs fairly cheap.

I also have 1 more question this winter I will be making another can thats alittle nicer can I take the 2 lines on the rear rocker cover and run them in to the vented catch can and remove the pcv all together then cap off the side of the intake? I'm guessing thats what your setup is (NASTY & JEFFY)?

Default Help Understanding

If you vent the catch can, how is the vacume helping draw the oil into the can?

It's not, the blower is causing crank case pessure and blowing the pressure and oil through thr vent.

I have seen the catch cans for sale that hook up to vacume and the valve covers. At what point do you need to go to a vented catch can, and do away with the vacume all together?

Conan, do you have anything in there to catch the oil and stuff, some use like a metal scratch pad or something. If you have never seen inside of one you may not know what I am talking about!

I have not seen the inside of one before. But I have these pads that soak up oil in my shop and I cut one and jamed in the bottom so the oil can get soaked up.

Any thoughts on the rest of my pcv... Do I need to cap off the intake and run the two rear rocker cover tubes in to this can as well???

You can use a breather can or better yet a vucuum pump in higher HP motors where the crankcase pressure builds up beyond the capabilities of your PCV and no where to go except seals, dipstick, etc.

I would try to keep the vent on the front of the valve covers if possible because when you floor it all your oil goes to the back. Your PCV is useless in a breather/catch can setup since this is not a sealed catch can that works with you PCV. There is alot of info on here, do a search for "Mightymouse", there was some good info in his thread.

I have a -10 fitting welded onto each stock valve cover and each have a ss line running into a catch can with a breatherfilter on top. Very similar to Nastys but not quite as pretty lol.

Thanks for the info guys ^^^. So if the rear rocker covers are still stock and hooked to the pcv, pcv to the intake am I causing a vac leak having the front of the rocker vented to the air? Car runs and idles fine, I have -15# of vac at idle.

So should I keep the front pass side rocker cover like I have it and cap the the 2 rear plugs and the where the pcv goes in to the intake?
