psi is not a good measure here. At 1000-1100hp I have no troubles usually, after that then its sort of a coin toss as to exactly when it will start moving coolant. Everyone that says they have trouble when timing is added...well that just means you are making more power and moving coolant. Keep the timing the same and gain the same amount of power by going up on the boost and you will move coolant too.

not 100% correct...

I dropped 2* and added 5 psi and stopped pushing any water

1213 rwhp and it didn't push...

I think alot of it has to do with when you make the cylinder pressure...more timing makes it earlier in power stroke...

I have heard this from some people and didn't know if this was true or not. Is it really the point of the cylinder pressure being so great that it is actually lifting the heads up, or could it be that the block is distorting with so much pressure as the rpms increase? I am building a 408 with Dart heads and an 88 mm turbo. I would like to be able to boost it to maybe 20-25psi to make the power I want but I don't want to have the head lifting and that being a big issue. The person that mentioned the block distorting said that when I asked about having the heads Oringed and he said that if I were to stud my motor, with the Dart heads, and the iron block it shouldn't be an issue. Is that correct or incorrect? I am just trying to get all the fact possible.

i like to keep her head from lifting by gently
pushing with both hands to keep her timing
correct and head in line.(see power stroke sticky)
others may get similure results with this
method. it's okay to pass some fluid as long
as groin temps arent effected.

control peak tq and then try to maintain it (just below the point where you push water)

little turbos and or big engines make this more challenging.

that said you can do all of the things you mention and still have trouble at high power

I run over 7K rpm with an aluminum block, so take that as you will...
