I need to get a bigger blower...
I just recently got done putting a forged 383 in the car and have to recover a little from the cost. New motor, new heads, new fuel, new twin disk clutch it just all adds up so quickly.

The P1SC broke on me, when we put the 3.4" pulley on it. The cage in one of the impeller bearings apparently felt abused and decided to all over the inside of the case which then let the impeller hit the front housing which shreaded the blades and it began to fall apart. Procharger told me this one was made it 05 so who knows what kind of life it had or how many miles it had on it.

So now I am just trying to decide if I want to spend the 2k+ to have Procharger replace all the bearings and gear and upgrade it to a D1SC or if I should just buy another used blower.

I hear ya, I'm still recovering from when I put my motor and everything together LOL

It'll be interesting to see how this tensioner setup does when put to the test

Aster is a great guy to work with and his bracket setup is top notch. I am running his bracket/tensioner setup with a F1R and it seems to doing great. With the SDCE setup (running the SDCE 7.25 crank pulley) and a 4 inch blower pulley on a 427, I was getting 17.3 lbs of boost. Now with Aster's bracket setup and the ATI crank pulley (7.65) and a 4 inch blower pulley, I am seeing 18.3 lbs of boost.

That's about as tested as it could get as far as I'm concerned LOL

Now I'm really impressed.

Wish I would have seen this before messing around with my SDCE setup that I am trying to install. This looks fantastic.

You have a PM. Thx

All I can say about Aster's setup is this thing is soooooo much better than the SDCE setup. Don't get me wrong. I have the SDCE on my car right now and it's doing the job, but, given the choice i'd go with Aster's without a hesitation.

This thing has been thought through thouroughly, and it shows.

I cannot see any way to get another millimeter of wrap on the pulley. Aster has done a superior job, very well laid out instructions, packaged extremely well.

I just cannot say enough good things about this and I am VERY happy I bought one!

Kudo's to you Aster.

Great setup. Aster was very helpful and answered all the questions I had. Looking forward to getting on the dyno to see if my belt slip problems are gone.

How is this set-up holding up for you with the F1R? im trying to find the best tensioning set-up possible for a f-body with the F1R..

money is not an issue but i would like to keep everything where it is and not have to move the radiator and keep the AC stuff.

Aster (Chris) is a stand up guy. Couldn't ask for a nicer person to deal with on his tensioner/bracket setup. I think his design is perfect for 95% of the people out there. But for people pushing the envelop like me, for one thing I don't think his tensioner is strong enough. But even if the tensioner was strong enough for me, I still think I could have issues trying to run an 8 rib serpentine setup. I feel I am just asking too much out of a serpentine belt. I have broke many belts. Not because I think there is a problem with Aster's setup, but because I feel I am pretty much passed the capabilities of a serpentine belt. I usually break my belt on a gear change. I am in the process of trying to come up with a sprag clutch that I can run on my blower and then run a clog belt. I know ATI makes a sprag clutch but I don't like their design. It only comes in 45 tooth and it is heavy at 12 lbs.

Thanks for your input. If the cog idea doesn't work, you think there is any way you can fit a 10 rib belt in there? maybe that would help a little.. or maybe that gates green heavy duty belt for your current set-up to see if that would help the belt breakage

If I really thought a 10 rib would solve any belt issues, I would figure out how to fit it in. I am already using the Gates heavy duty green belts. I just figure, if I am going to figure out how to get something wider on my car, I am going to try to make the cog work.

So Aster... you're selling these?

Is your bracket thick enough so it doesn't need the extra brace on the back of the J bracket? Or would it be good to have just to be sure it doesn't flex. I agree will all your improvements to the SDCE system as I've had the same complaints. Nice work!

i built my own tensioner system and the only prob i had was with a small pulley before crank kept failing due to heat , until i found the right bearings for the speedthe pulley was reaching now it has not failed me at 20- 22 psi

Does anybody know if this system, SDCE, or the ATI 8-rib tensioning systems can be converted to a 10 or 12 rib system by changing the pullies? I am trying to keep my ac stuff so a cog system is out of the question..

Yeah it could be done by spacing it out further and offsetting the procharger pulley to compensate although you will have to move the radiator farther foward to give the S/C further forward. You can buy at 12 from Vortech that will bolt right to the ATI balancer, but the rest are going to have to be made and lined up etc...

Hey, got a question for you, I FINALLY installed the brakcet I purchased from you yesterday, and as you had warned I am having clearance issues with the LS1 water pump. I had ordered this water pump...

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-p...-for-sale.html

My question is....

You state you used a LS3 water pump but from what I can tell the water outlet is in a different spot on the LS3 vs LS1. Did you actually use just the pulley? If so how did you get the old one off, new one on?

Thanks,
Chad

The waterpump part # I used was 89018052 and looks like this. I had given the part number in pms to hopefully avoid the confusion.
