Goals: 10.x in the 1/4, stock cube motor, suspension setup for daily driver.
Plans: I currently plan on putting the blower on my current setup (see sig). The heads have a slightly larger volume, so I'm a bit lower than stock compression. The heads don't flow all that great, and I plan on swapping them out later on with a set of LQ9 heads (custom tailoring the cam lift to the flow characteristics of the heads). Fully forged bottom end later on (she's still pulling strong at 68k).
As for the head-unit...is it worth my time to get the G-Trim V-9 blower? It supposedly maxes out at 575rwhp. My suspension would have to be setup for pretty much drag only to hit 10s with that (if it's even possible). Do I just go out and get the S-Trim or T-Trim (what are the advantages to each?)? They're both smaller than the G-Trim...can I mount them in the same location (obviously with a custom bracket), or will I have to put the blower lower in the engine bay like PSJ did for his YS-Trim?
Please proived your opinions and reason. Thanks!
Race on pump gas?
Seriously, consistant 10s (that's why I say 10.8s)...I don't consider one lucky shot on 10.99 consistant. I'll be on pump gas and slicks at the track.Since I'm in AZ, I'll probably go with an air to air intercooler since I still primarily drive this car on the street.
If I go with the T-trim, am I better off building the setup from scratch, or should I buy the vortech kit, substitute the head unit and bracket. Where does their bracket put the T-trim head unit? I prefer the lower placement (closer to the crank). How does that affect oiling for the head unit?
I'm running the air to water Vortech aftercooler and down here in the godawful heat of TX it does fine. However, the car is nowhere near a daily driver.
S trim - rated up to 680 crank hp
T trim - rated up to 825 crank hp
YS trim - rated up to 1000 crank hp
S, T, and YS trim will not fit in the Vortech G V9 G trim brackets.
I am running I think a shorter belt than the V9 G trim kit.

Should get 700+ crank HP in cool weather.
But I am spinning it for all it's worth with a 8" crank pulley/2.5" blower pulley and the blower housing has had some work done to it.
The positive of this is that boost arrives very early and then flattens out at peak. I get an easy 10+psi by 4500 rpm but only rise to 14 at 6200rpm.
But I would say 575-600 is accurate for most g-trims and if I was to do it again I would go with a YS trim.
If so that is VERY interesting. I'd love a nonintercooled T-Trim blower with TNT 100 wet shot and 10# boost on racegas hehehe

thanks for any info!

What compromises daily use of this set up. I'm concerned about the crap gas here. (So Cal)92oct. is all they got.
I've got the same kit with the cooler+ 9lbs.
Thx
In fact, when I dynoed my '99 (mostly stock), I did have a little bit of ?false? knock.

Kinda funny,I would have anticipated the opposite if anything, but my Vortech SS has the fuel system and tuning to cope.
Bottom line, I think you could use a car with my setup as a daily driver but I have never really tested it that way. Car has 9700 miles and the Vortech kit went on at ~1200.
-Vortech does not directly sell S-trim or T-trim brackets for 98-02 F-Body cars. They only sell the V9 G-Trim kit as a bolt-in kit for us.
-Vortech has a relationship with RMCR in Colorado, and they sell custom brackets that allow you to run a T trim or a YS trim on our cars. But the brackets are $1500 I think and I will tell you that they are not that spectacular.
-Chris at ssracing.net (znines@earthlink.net) made my custom brackets, we put the YS trim down where the alternator used to be. My brackets are all made out of 1/2 inch steel.
-LT1 guys have their blower down where I have mine. They typically open up their S trim brackets to fit a T or a YS trim.
-Vortech S, T, and YS are phyisically bigger than a G trim... That's why they used the G trom on our cars.
-Some S trim Mustangs and F-Bodies have run 9.90's. Some feel that the S trim is underrated but you need to buzz some rpms to run that strong.
-Best example of a flying G-trim car from the past would be Brian Palsicko from OH aka Gold Formula. He went 11.1@122? back in 2000, and at the GMHTP Nat's I saw him run 11.5 at 5000 DA.
I am not sure if I'd bother with an intercooler at ~10#s. I know it is worth 30-40RWHP but is that worth an extra 1500-2000 bucks?
I would be thrilled with around 550-600RWHP unintercooled. 50# injectors parallel inline pumps hotwired and customs rails with regulator.

I tried finding a picture but 2 guys on LS1.Com have the T-Trim mounted at the top just like the G-Trim.
Check with 98MechamMan & Htmm there... I'm sure they'll set you up with some pics & Details.
