Default high hp motor which poweradder

I have searched and searched on which route i want to go but still am undecided.Like most I have big plans for my trans am when paid off in about a year. Im going with a forged longblock from a sponser, most likely a 408. I am really unsure on which route i want to go with the build. Ive never drivin in a nitrous, turbo or s/c v8 car..my goals for car are to drive to track.run high 8's and be able to drive around on weekends. i want it to be semi reliable too. I am also buying a new rear within a month. I want to decide on what I am going to do before that time so i can choice the optimal gears in rear. I heard turbo cars like lower gears.btw car is a 6speed and staying at that..money is also not a big issue. i have a tree outback growing plenty of it.

Might want to revise your goals a bit maybe to high 9s which is still stupid fast.
And not many six speed cars even fully built are going 8s. pretty much forget the six speed if you are set on that for a goal and go for a fully built 4l80e or turbo 400.
Turbo 400 is the cheaper way to do it.
You can get 9s with a 408 even a 370 with forged rods and pistons.iron blocks are pretty cheap. Maybe 8s. You will need some big turbos like aps upgraded kit or a big super like f1..possibly d1 or big single turbo...not as familiar with supers as turbos. You will need to know how to tune your big combo or pay for someone that does to tune it.
Is an 8 second street car doable.yes..its it reasonable no. High 9s is stupid fast. and 9s require a medical ,full cage, etc to run at the track..well any nhra track. hell 10s is very fast and you need a rollbar for 11.5. And I will tell you an 8 or 9 second or even a 10 second car like you plan on building is pretty much a death wish. If you are young and talking much under 30 not sure you will have the responsibility to handle something like this. Heck I am 50 and I have had fast and my new build scares me and I am not scared easily. I would recommend going slow..maybe build the 408 and then add the power adder. A 408 is no slouch especially if built. But then you do have to figure out what you are going to do to get compression right. Most street Fi cars are 9.0 to 1 sometimes 9.5 and sometimes 8.5. I went 9.5. No complaints. So it is good to know final goals.
You can go fast too with a 408 ,427 and spray...

You are likely looking at 30000 or more to do this build. Best of luck. And that number could go much higher with mistakes ,breakage, etc.

Take a look at KP's car here. It was an extremely reliable combination.

I appreciate all the help you guys are giving me. Like I said i really want to keep it a 6speed car.If that means running 9's that will have to do. I understand the amount of money is going to be substantial for the build. I am looking for a wicked fast strip/street car. I will be doing a majority of work myself, I do have access to a lift. I think ive narrowed it down. Im either going to build a 408 with around 500hp and throw a direct port 200-300 shot. Or have the 408 built for boast and slap on a f1 procharger. With the procharger will I still be able to keep ac? will it need to have a cog system. Would 4.11 in rear be good for either setup? thanks again for all your help fellas

A GT88 will work with a budget, and KYTP has a kit they are working on. Also I believe LG is as well.

I think it would be attainable with the right amount of money invested. We do in house turbo builds for some mean street cars and trucks.

I say go large single or Procharger, whatever you prefer. Get a Kit from Kentucky Turbo or another sponsor or take it to a Sponsors shop and have them build it for you or get an F1 kit from Bob at EPP. Both will get the job done.

Yes, you can keep the ac with an F-1A.
You won't need a cog drive with an F-1A if you go with the SCDE idler assembly, and a cog drive with a stick shift is not a good combination.
I would go with 3.70 gears with approx 1000 hp, as 4.11's would not run you out through the 1/4 mile without some really high rpm's or a really tall tire. 3.70 gears with 28 inch tall rear tires will put you through the traps in the 6500 to 7000 rpm range.
Check out the build we did for this CTS-V where we started with a new LS2 block, and check out the dyno graph at the end. If we upped the boost from the 14.4 psi to somewhere around 18 psi with race gas this V would be at another 100 or so rwhp. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...Car.php?car=29
