is the one i want. i am still looking around. i cant seem to find the ATI unit on the net. anyone know?
one more thing, the tech said not to release the pressure into atmosphere as it will mess up the MAF reading and to return to the system. what do you all think? we all love the sound of the valve opening up!
they have 2 different purposes.
A bypass valve operates with both vacuum and pressure. It will stay open and "bypass" air under vacuum and it will close under pressure to prevent boost from escaping. This is the important one out of the two.
A blow off valve usually just operates under pressure, not vacuum. It has a spring in it that is set to "blow off" at a certain PSI level. Usually this is put on a car to alleviate the excess pressure in the intake tract when slamming the throttle shut after a lot of boost
that vortech valve should work fine for you

if the MAF is before the bypass valve you have to route the vented air back before the MAF so that it reads the air again

Have you looked at TURBOXS? They have a nice race bov that i'm using with my ATI that uses vaccuum to keep it open during idle, and spring pressure and boost to keep it closed during boost. It works perfect for a supercharger setup.
They also have one with a horn to make it louder if you are able to release to the atmosphere.

Mine vents metered Air and hasn't hurt a thing.. It's a bit rich between shifts for only a moment but this is something you'd probably only see show up on Autotap because you wouldn't ever notice otherwise. Car runs great..
The BOV Uses both Boost & Vacuum to operate. It doesn't just blow off when you reach a specific PSI. I'm not sure any of them do. You tighten down the adjustment set screw which basically controls when it blows off only when you go to vacuum, the vacuum basically acts like a trigger. Right now I have mine set to blow off or VENT at 3000 RPM's or Higher when Im in a Vacuum. Meaning as long as i'm operating in a vacuum and the RPM's are @ 3k or higher it will vent. If you floor it and immediately jump into a Boost condition the BOV Closes.. Hope that makes sense..
Sounds pretty Intimidating when I shift in the High RPM's too!.
