I've run TR8 and now TR10.

My YS-trim 414 Ls1 is back together and will be back on the dyno Monday or Tuesday. It should be interesting to compare my 414 blower-only numbers to your 346 numbers. I think I have previously predicted 675 for your car. Good luck; many grimlins at these levels.

We'll probably spray the last pull or two and it should make close to 1000 this time, if it stays together. Racing in Vegas October 4.

It's really pretty simple: These motors are not designed to make HP past ~600 ish, which will eventually cause me to change to a BBC or SBC motor.

Go to any national event and I don't think you will find an LS1 motor in anything other than stock. 10-bolt heads and flimsy blocks are not the things that high HP race motors are made from, but here I am trying to make 1000 rwhp?!

Good luck Stealth.

I'm gonna go straight boost, for sure we should see 20 lbs or so... perhaps a wee bit more.

Stealth, not sure what pulley combo, gas and how much nitrous you plan to hit but I know I would run different timing if I was all blower or blower/nitrous.

Remember that we are using TSI, so our configuration changes from blower-only to blower/nos. In both cases, we have backed-off of the timing a bit, down toward the 16-22 range, for a while.

We are meeting GMHTP magazine at Vegas next Friday to discuss an article. Will advise.

Yeah good luck Steve.

Anyway, I'd run TR6's for most boosted cars, I got a set of TR8's upon reccomendation by Znines and I will change over to them since we are trying to make the setup as safe as possible.

As far as what the car might do, well, who knows. Some converters are more efficient than others. I think it's good to really look at the final torque numbers to get an indication of what the locked numbers would have looked like.

Have you O-ring'd the heads, receiver grooved the block or changed to larger head studs? Tell me a little about the car's detailed specs.

Well, I:

-punched out MAF screen
-installed NGK TR8 plugs gapped at .025
-put together crankcase breather solution
-re-clearanced driver's side for 28" slicks, the rearend is now centered with the use of an adjustable PHB and my old clearancing from last year was not enough.

I drove the car around for about 20 minutes to make sure everything was working right. I'm ready for the dyno this week.

Car is definitely crazy loud right now. I am going to definitely change the exhaust between now and next summer... I really can't drive around my neighbourhood as it stands, and I cannot repeatedly load the car in/out late at nite it's kinda of sick loud.

Anyone want dual 3.5 oval exhaust HOLLA!!!!

I'll be interested to see how your head seal holds up John.I lifted my heads BADLY at the strip last night at 13+psi. Coolant everywhere after very first pass.
But made it home OK.
Going to run pure race gas from now.

Sup Corey and Steve:

We were at Speed Inc. dynoing the car last night but had some electrical problems. We were not able to do a full pull since the FAST wideband might be damaged or miscalibrated or something like that. It was reading 3 full points higher (fatter at idle) and 2-2.5 full points richer at full throttle vs the dyno's wideband... So the tuning team did not want to risk damaging anything. But the car idles great even with those cold plugs. I've got calls into FAST to discuss.

Hey Steve, what do you think happened?

But you can imagine, if we set the target AF on the FAST at say 13:1 at part throttle, it's really at 16:1 so it's far too lean.

Hey Steve, what do you think happened?

I think the colder air just put my tune over the edge and it detonated. I could sense something was not quite right during the first run.It pulled hard and then felt sort of rough as it shifted into 3rd.
Wideband showed 11.5 A-F during the runs.
I only made 2 passes. First one right off the highway it ran 11.50 on a 2.001 60ft at 125.3mph
2nd pass 11.45 at 125 flat with a 1.97 60ft.
Coolant everywhere on each pass.
But did not lose a drop on the 75mile drive home.So same ol story of heads lifting and then settling back down.
One more pass and I probably would have blown a gasket fully.
The 2.73 gears are coming out.
Bfg drag radials will hit the garbage can soon also.I had those suckers super hot and sticky and they still totally blew off just as soon as I made some power.I was on/off the gas 3 times before it hooked on each pass.
The alky system is already out of the car. From now on pure race gas only.

How much timing were you running?

125mph with 2.73's is pretty awesome.

I was running 20 degrees flat.
My son took video and I listened to it last night. I can hear it was not running real smoothly.
2.73's place the motor under to much load and make me cross the traps lugging hard at only 5000rpm. I think that's where it really started to lift the heads.
125mph was not bad for 2.73's and 3600lbs+. Just under 101mph in the 1/8th.
I did not run it out through the traps either .
I am going to make a lot of changes over the winter.

We have to keep the MAF for now since I am mostly using the FAST to control fuel until they come out with a converrter box that allows me to ditch my harness and pcm.

Steve, I'm far from an expert, but if you ran race gas earlier this week what race gas would you have run? What's your compression?

John,I am going to run leaded race gas at the strip.I'll have to see what is recomended by the various fuel companies for a supercharged engine or what other guys are running with success.
I'll just run the car in openloop and remove the o2's.
It's at around 9.3-1 compression.
