Default Priming the turbo before startup

Okay cars ready to be started but I have an issue. Couple people say start it right up and a couple say NO don't do that! take the drain off and pull some wires so the car won't turn over but will feed oil and make sure its coming out of the drain first. What are you guys doing on first start up..i'd really like to get this car started but I don't want to damage anything doing so. So question is do you guys prime your turbos and if so how or just start it up. For refrence even though it probably doesn't matter the turbo is a TC78 stock longblock. THANKS after car gets started ill have my build thread woot

I pull the fuel pump relay and unplug the coil packs and turn it over til oil comes out of the feed line. I then connect the feed line to the turbo and turn it over again for a little bit to make sure its good and lubed. This will allow you to see if you have any leaks on the drain before you run it too. Then fire it up.

I think he means just unplug the 2 main coil feed connectors and it will disable all of the coils. It will run on 6 cyl if you dont. G

If it is a new turbo, they generally have enough oil in them until you build pressure, but you better make sure that your feed line is actually pushing oil before you run it. I personally left the spark plugs out, unplugged the coils, and injector harness and cranked it over to build pressure. It did not take but a couple of 10 second cranks to build 40 psi on my mechanical gauge.

I just unplugged the coils, turned it over, counted to 10, plugged them up, and fired.... And immediately left two matching black lines out of the shop and have never looked back .
