Default twin turbo kit w/ flowmasters

I'm getting ready to install a Incon twin turbo kit on my Mustang and was wondering how much the dual 2 chamber flowmaster's currently on my car will hurt the new setup. The car currently has a Vortec on it and sounds great thru the flows but from what I've been reading a lot of people say that they will hurt the turbo's preformance. Is this true? Some guys have reported up to a 50hp loss because of them. I just seem to trust the opinion of the LSx crowd more than the other guys.

Think its really going to be depending how much boost you throw at it. Higher boost applications will see better gains swapping to a straight through muffler.

Flowmasters lose power on a stock setup Id never try and run it behind a turbo. Get a straight through muffler.

With that being said what is a good muffler to run behind a turbo for a mild street application?

Anything with a perforated straight-through core. There are many on the market. I'm running Magnaflow.

Do NOT use Flowmaster, Aerochamber, or Spintech.

Dynomax Ultraflow ovals. ....my opinion.

I remember when Trent redid his exhaust on his turbo mustang here in Phx and he picked up over 50 rwhp and torque going from a flowmaster to a straight through type muffler.

:word: I dont even know how air makes it through an aerochamber I dont see how those make power.

Get a Magnaflow or Dynomax.

Flowmasters kill turbo power. Pulses and scavenging are all wrong. Use a dynomax welded or a magnaflow. Or if you can find the an ATR pitbull but I don't think they are made anymore. G

yeah agreed on everything said here. Perforated core glasspack or mufflers is the only way to go when wanting to make good effecient power..Flowmasters really suck for performance but sound awesome.

Ya, I have a 3" down pipe flared to 4" as soon as it get under my truck and put a 4" diesel exhaust on it with a 4", 30" long strait though Magnaflow diesel muffler on it and ran it all the way out the back of my truck. It ran great like this, but above 65mph would get really loud in the truck, so I took a small 3" spintech 4x6x12 case muffler and cut the ends off of it and made it a 4" and put on on the end of my tail pipe and it quieted it down a BUNCH and made if much more livable on the high way, but I LOST 1.5 lbs of boost from the added back pressure and it feels way slower. I think I'm just going to put a cutout right at the bottom of the down pipe for track use, or I can take the tail pipe section off right after it humps over the rear end.

I wouldnt think a single chamber Flowmaster would be bad on a turbo car, to me thats the best sounding flowmaster muffler out there.
