I have a cam that was ground on a Lq9 core 116 LSA stock...and it appears the cam grinder went wider instead of narrower as requested. Cam wound up with the following specs after being checked out and degree'd

221-228
117.5 LSA
.528 .532 @ valve
.050 small base circle


The lift is a little low...but seems like it would be easy on the springs for street use...probably work good with GM "yellow" LS2 springs. Im just concerned that the wide LSA might make the turbo spool slow, or possibly create higher exhaust gas temps. I know that lingefelter has some awfuly wide LSA cams that have gotten some pretty good reviews. How would this cam compare to a stock Z06 cam for turbo use?

Anybody have a opinion on this? As I posted before, looking to make 600rwhp on pump gas turbo'd with LQ4. I dont have to run this cam, but if it works....????

 

Z06 cam is the same lsa and lots of people use that for turbo motors.

 

The lift is less on this cam than a z06 cam, but the @.050 duration is considerably more, especially on the intake. I was going to run a z06 cam, but i remembered i had this cam tucked away.

 

The LSA is fine, but the lift is a little low IMO. I think with the right combo of heads, turbo, and other things you could hit 600 rwhp with that cam.

 

LSA is fine..here are two z06 and the lingenfelter grinds. The gt2-3 was used in many of their famous turbo cars and last few years the gt7 is the main FI cam and used also in many of their turbo builds.

I am running the gt7 no dyno numbers on mine till summer or so but have seen some very good dynos with that cam.

I have more lift and am also running 1.8 rockers but its a 408.You can run some 1.8 also I would think just check to make sure the cam is ok with 1.8s mine is.Seen the cam card.

Keep in mind if that you do go with 1.8 rockers to increase the lift, it will also increase the durations some. I would check the P/V clearance first before starting it up if you do go that route.

 

My cam seems to have about 10 degrees more intake duration than the other cams listed above. Is it still in the ballpark for a streetable, decent forced induction cam? The duration split between intake and exhaust is also a little less

 

I have seen lots with that type of duration and normal split. As said if its weak anywhere its the lift is so low. 1.8 if they are ok with it will take it to about 560 ish lift I think with just a few degress more duration. As said you should maybe check your piston to valve clearance but really would doubt it would be a problem. But never hurts to check.
