Default main bearing wear from the belt of a supercharger question/info

When a supercharger is driven off the crank pulley by a belt. How does that affect bearing wear?
Does a cog belt wear more then a rib belt on the bearing?
How much added wear/stress does a 8 rib belt cause?

I've wondered about this myself. I would think the tension would cause a little more wear but it's worth it for the extra power. The 8-rib set-up will cause more wear than a cog because it's the tension on the belt that would cause any added wear and you need to crank that belt down to eliminate belt slip. With a cog set-up the belt doesn't need to be near as tight.

i have not seen any unsual wear from them, and i had a few 671's with a 3" belt, which is worse than any serpentine setup-the one thing you have to keep an eye on is running a cog, adjust the belt tension after warm up, as the belt can tighten
i have seen a couple front snouts break from roots blowers, but they were pretty high hp engines
having the proper press fit with the balancer/snout is important
having said that, im sure there will be others that have seen problems

I would think the cog style pulley would not slip like a ribbed style pulley system causing a little more torque on the nose of the crank. Steve Morris Racing up here in Michigan made a system that relieves the stress on the nose of the crank I saw on one of his 3000 + HP motors that uses the F-3 Procharger. Maybe he has something for a 671-871 style blower. I don't know if he is a sponsor here, but if you like I can find my reciept and get you his # to ask what he recommends. Merry Christmas!!
