Default Single Turbo

My car is going in for a single turbo system in NOV. Fuel system and tuning will be included. Is there any mods I should consider doing before? Also I'm know I need to change my gears should I go back to stock or 3.73? Current mods are in sig.

Thanks

I agree. my turbo tech set-up was supposed to a "budget" build up. lemme tell ya, there is nothing "budget" about an LS1. Especiall when you are considering forced inducdtion.

410s are a good gear for a turbo car it will pull hard in all the gears. i agree with NEAT and BIGBOS on the motor

good luck

if it makes good hp then you will likely run out of gear. with 3.73's i ran out of gear at 125mph for my rpm range on a MT 26" tire. if you plan on running a big tire like a hoosier 27 or a 28 then you will prolly be ok assuming you arent going over say 550rwhp. lots of generalizations here but there's the overall.

now on the street.. if you want to have any traction at all i strongly reccomend going back to 3.42's

What kit?

I'd probably step down to 3.42's unless you plan to run 28's on the back.

My kit is going to be the prototype kit for HP Performance. They will use a high mount location similiar to their Mustang kits. They say they will use a 60mm custum hybrid turbo. Should I go any bigger with my stock motor right away?

Thanks

Don't know about all this. If one knows how to tune, the stock shortblock has proven very stout. As for the rear, if an A4 is ahead, the rear with a thick gear like a 3.23 or 3.42 will hold up to 10s. Mine has, you just have to load the rear, instead of shocking the wee out of it. If it's an M6, get a 12-bolt or get used to 2.2x 60s to save the 10-bolt.

Don't worry too much. Just get the equipment, tune it right, and work from there.

If you listen to the failures, you'll be too paralyzed with fear to make the move.

I wish you the best in your endeavor, and I'll see you at the track!

SC-

Edit: I see you have the Spec clutch. I'd say the 12-bolt is in the future for sure. Otherwise, everything else goes.

Cool! I've known Nathan and Jimmy at HP for years. I've been wanting to get a 5.0L (cheap cars) just to try out because of their mustang kit, lol. Pics of the mustang kits are on www.turbochargedpower.com and www.turbomustangs.com forum. They've been in quite a few recent mustang magazines, and a kit was tested on a carbed engine in Hot Rod a like 2 months ago.

We'll prob start reselling their kits when they are available, in fact we'll prob be helping them out for getting allot of the little stuff, the fuel system and tuning. They don't have a huge LS1 following now, but I'm sure they're kits will change that.

Seems like a 60mm turbo would be too small with what we've seen with other single kits?
Either way another kit would be nice to add some competition.
