The only down side is reduced VE resolution. There is still more resolution than the aftermarket systems so it's really not a big deal.

If I were the tuner involved in this build, I'd insist on speed density (SD).

SD is Speed Density. The car does not rely on a MAF to tell it how to fuel. Instead it uses manifold pressure (MAP sensor) vs RPM to deliver fueling.
