Good ol' stock turd, stock converter, stock until it breaks....Which I have a feeling of being sooner than later.

I'm gonna predict 4 dyno pulls and 1 street launch before the 4L60 blows like that recent 900hp Jeep SRT8.

I forsee a 4L80/5 in it's future. They've been doing good behind whipple'd 8.1's.

The truck was done a while ago.

It ended up awesome! After a ton of street loggin with HPTuners and an AEM wideband, the tune ended up perfect. Transmissioin shifts perfectly, no slipping, at a rock solid 7psi. The Turbosmart WG's (38mm x 2) are really doing their job well. As you can see in some of the previous pictures the mounting location is just about as optimal as you can get. There are no "T" junctions in this kit. Little differences like that not only increase efficiency, but also show fabricaton rather than welding.

A few things in the works...

At 70 mph with the cruise set, this setup is seeing roughly 1-2psi of boost. The turbos are little t3/t4 54mm (I think they are 54's at least) with a .68 A/R on the exhaust. With the cubic inches of this motor they spool instantly but obviously dont have enough volume for cruising speeds/high load. For what the owner wants, larger exhaust housing will hurt spool slightly but allow him to cruise in vacuum rather than boost. Believe it or not gas mileage is an issue for him. He said he was getting 16 on the highway (sounds a little far fetched to me) but now is getting 12-13. He also said stoplight to stoplight hisi gas mleage is close to the same. SO, by increasing the volume of the exhaust, relieving some pressure issues, cruising in vacuum instead of boost should seriously increase his mileage.

Also the truck is running the turbos into a single 3.5" Magnaflow muffler. Since their isnt a catalytic conveter, were going to weld one in. Should help the exhaust smell.

Little things that no one could anticipate. Everyones driving habits and preferences are different. We havent dynoed it because we're looking for a facility that can accomidate this monster and its AWD.

Other than that, he's a happy camper and it truly drives like a stock H2... Until you put your foot in it!

1-2psi at a cruise speed does not sound good at all. Get some t4 turbos on that thing. I just helped my dad put together a similar setup on his 8.1L truck with 2 turbonetics 60-2 turbos with .68 hot sides. Truck pulls a fifth wheel travel trailer and will barely see 1-3psi going up a hill at a steady cruise. If you step on it it builds instantly. Just have to get the right size turbos is all I'm saying and then your mileage will go up. Just cause its a brick doesnt mean you cant get good gas milage. You should gain about 1-3mpg with a good turbo kit IMO.

He drives the truck pretty aggressively, which accounts for some of the MPG loss. Once we change the A/R's, and up the boost alittle...it should be all gravy. The tune is spot on, cruses at 14.7 - 15.1 :1 ....it just builds boost so fast, its easy to use up the gas Its perfect for moving that brick around

cracker
I also have a turbo H2, see sig, I get an average of 6.5 mpg around town.
I can reset and will average approx. 10.2 on Hwy but thats about it. Of course I am in it more than not. I would think fuel milage would be of little concern when boosting 6800 lbs.
I am interested in some areas of your tune as I am constantly tweaking and finding improvements in various areas. I run OLSD with approx. 15lbs.
