yea, and they have a shop that already built a 7.25 sec turbo car, use the dyno that use to be in their shop, and puked a trans and or convertor on the first trip to the dyno. He even said that if he didnt have to run with in the psca rules he probably would build 400ci and twins.
Theres only around 6k $ in stuff to make it run......probably more like 7k in the induction. Not counting the 2000 $ turbo or the second 2200 $ turbo.
1600 in fuel system
325 intake
125 elbow
400 tb
400 injectors
3000 bs3
1000 intercooler
2000 for the turbo
I m not an expert but I didnt know all pro heads came with ferrea valves and 180# seat springs. They also stated building a spare trans now too. Most of those glides are probably in the 3000 and up area with 1200 to 2000$ convertors....so thats another 6-8k he spent to run the car. It did sound like they do their own trans though, cause they did special machining to the trans case. Obviously not their first rodeo and obviously great fabricators and builders with experience.
Awesome, yes, can it be done yes......will building a 5.3 save money?

Ok so I have a 5.3 long block, I want to do something different than most. I want to do a turbo build up. My goal may be unattainable, but that is where you all come in. My goal is to put 1200 at the wheels with a 150 shot to get out of the hole. My questions are many, So I will just start. Should I push this out to a 383? What cam should I use? What injectors? What size fuel lines? My biggest concern is the engine build, cam, heads? I have a set of 706 and 803 casting heads laying around here? Would either work, I mean can I open them up enough to flow like I will need. Obviously I am going to forge the bottom end. I want to run a ton of boost at the track, but safely run enough to do 700 on the street. I would like to get this engine around 500rwhp without any power adders. I have seen the fairmont 5.3 turbo set up, But I want to do more. I would apreciate your positive input and help. My last car had a 408 with a 300 shot. This time I want to go turbo with this 5.3 I have laying around. Thanks in advance.
small cu will rev like hell and less stress on the crank

^^^^ small ci will not necessarily make your engine rev higher. why do you think the ls7 (7 liter v8) revs higher the our ls1 (5.7l v8) from the factory ? it all depends on the cam, springs, heads, and how the bore and stroke of the motor is set up., and lots of other stuff. i think getting a big cube motor and not reeving high will be more reliable then as a small ci motor being revved to ****.

the iron 5.3 has 6 bolt mains. Build it and get some good numbers and come back here and prove them all wrong. Im building a boosted 5.3 myself. Heres the specs on the block...
