Default Which block? How many cubes?

I have a 98 ss 6 spd. I will be using a F1A running 14-16. I was thinking of doing a LS7 427 but seen a 418 LS3 or go with the old iron 408 I would like to go with alum block for weight. The LS7 is pricey and I know nothing about the LS3 block. What all would I have to do to get the Ls3 to work. Whats the price diff to.

I would go with the ls3 based engine,the ls3 is a really good block with thick sleeves.the other benefits are less weight than the iron block and cheaper than the ls7

frt and valley covers are different,have to use an extension harness on the cam and knock sensors,move knock sensors to bottom of block,really easly conversion.
