Default Thinking about going FI

I'm considering selling my Zx-12R and using the funds to join the FI LS1 crowd. My goal is a streetable 500 rwhp using a stock bottom end. I live 90 miles away from the closest drag strip, so 1/4 mile times are a secondary concern for me.

My primary fear is turning my SS into an oil burning hot running beast of a car that constantly stalls out. I can handle installation and fabrication duties, but tuning will be new to me (I ran ATAP logs and tuned with my MAFT but thats about it)

That being said, I was thinking of going with the QMP single Turbo kit. For some reason, a turbo seems like a more elegant provider of boost than a supercharger (and power under the curve is typically greater.) I am not completely ruling out an ATI though.

Questions:

1. Is the turbo upgrade necessary or is the T63 enough of a turbo?
2. Will the power taper off above 5500 rpm using this setup (I've seen this drop off in several posts)
3. Will I need to swap the cam or heads to achieve 500 rwhp?
4. if a cam swap is necessary, what grind works best for my goal?
5. Would water / alky injection be necessary for this power level (considering the fact that it would rarely visit the strip?)
6. Would the fuel system provided with the QMP kit be sufficient?
7. How do items like the brake booster, the HVAC system, PCV, system etc. react under boost?

The car is a 2001 SS M6 with stock 3.42 10 bolt (I know that 10 bolt won't last )

Thanks in advance!

1. The te-63 will work
2. It will unless you get new SLP valvesprings i believe. I havent done it yet but i think its like $125
3. no but lower compression heads will let you run more boost
4. no
5. no
6. yes
7. dont know

Make sure you get a manual boost controller so you can reach your desired boost level. I answered your questions assuming you are only running 7lbs. If you run any more then some answers to the questions change. My kit is just about installed and will be tuned tomorrow or early next week. I am hoping for 500rwhp as well. Its also my daily driver.
