Question Oil Scavenge pump noise possible solution

Has anyone tried using a PWM (pulsewidth modulation) circuit to vary the speed of their scavenge pump instead of a resistor?

The circuit is pretty easy to build.

Works like a champ to vary the speed od DC motors like the ones in treadmills.

These can handle up to 30Amps.

These can handle up to 16Amps.

Thoughts?

I am curious how much oil is being circulated through a supercharger or turbo? My question centers around the idea that a pump might be running dry part of the time.

It may not necessarily be running dry, just slightly coated, lol.

I would love to see a bench demo of the flow rate of oil through the unit. I bet something like a quart sized sump setup would be a better return option. The pump kicks on and off by a level indicator.

If you PWM the pump you effectively/safely vary the speed and noise level.
