Ill be interested to seeing how this works. I was thinking you'd possibly run shorter rods to make up the difference in compression height. I'm really interested in this as people have been putting down the larger stroke cranks for quite a while. I'm going to guess you arent using a shelf piston?

This response on this combo is interesting.....it will work, that's not the question. The real question is when and "how well"!
I'm going to get the car tuned on the T-brake to see how well it comes up on boost, after that it's to the track somewhere to shake it down. Then I will baby step it up from 15PSI. I'm going to shift around 7000-7300 to start. When I start really pushing it (say north of 25psi and 7500 rpm) is when we find out if it what the combo is capable of. If I can go 7.80's on a hydraulic roller with a cast intake, "off the shelf" heads that are not o-ringed, truck manifolds, and a home-made boost controller I will be more than satisfied.
If things aren't working like they should, I have one of the best in the business (Kurt Urban) to help sort it out. I have a few other new variables too (a somewhat experimental convertor), so I have to be patient and consider alot of factors while figuring it out.
You guys are starting to give me a complex, lol.

Don't worry Mark, I remember when the rear mount turbos came out and the turbo gurus said they could never make the power that a front mount could with an all out build. I don't hear anything like that anymore since Paul Major's Vette shut that talk up. I think your being very conservative with your 7.80 goal.

That's cool...what are your 1/8 mile goals?
No the crank was not toast, it just needed some clean up and minor repair due to the thrust going away and me not checking it enough. I made it through 90-100 passes. In fact, the entire engine (minus dry sump) has been sold along with Kurt refreshing it for Tomz28. He's got a twin set-up that will make close to 1000HP on his street/strip car.
On the thrust issue, Kurt has a plan to help that. I also will be keeping a close eye on it this year.
As for money, I'm building a whole new engine so it probably is more than your spending. But with the sale of my old set-up it has kept it to a reasonable upgrade for what I'm doing. May switch to solid next year so the cost should be even more tolerable since alot of this set-up can be used again.

Mark, good luck on your build. While i probably wouldnt have built that combination myself-it's nice to see guys going against the grain and doing things that are said to be impossible. If you don't push the envelope and break a couple parts you never know what is possible and what isn't.

Thanks Shawn...that's all it is...pioneering, lol. Must be a Ohio thing....Mike Brown and Steve Turley have been doing it for years with pretty good success. Mike went 7.92 on a Hyd 427 CI...gotta beat that, lol. Obviously hoping to have good results but if I don't, I also hope it wouldn't be catastrophic
